‘Glutes’ is peak-time material without being overly fast or chaotic, the energy instead coming from the transportive arrangement and emotive melodic content. The same can be said for Bäumel’s ‘Surge’ on Kompakt, an anthem in the sets of Tale Of Us last year which led to this release.

The title track rises and falls, surging with wide-sweeping synth notes and a steady rhythm to anchor the waves. An infectious refrain pulls you further in and, right on cue, the kick drum continues to beat the sweet spot. ‘Engage’ is filled with similarly subtle details, uplifting arpeggios and atmospheric reverb. Half-way through the melody bursts into life, shining brightly through the haze and creating one of those moments of release that make the Afterlife sound work so well on a dancefloor.

About Phil Sonic...
Already very early Phil Sonic was aware that he was musically different than other people his age.
He was always looking for electronic beats as musical impulsion. It quickly became clear – Phil Sonic needs music for live. By the age of 15 years he bought his first turntables and so the story took its course.
Phil Sonic has not enought from music – Today, he can ́t imagine live without the electronic music scene and also can ́t get enought playing his music and sounds. For him it is the most incredible feeling to feel the music flowing through his body.
Music is something that never stands still – and so people should be entrained by his music and never come to a standstill.
Music is passion and fascination at the same time – it makes him laugh, think, encourages him and motivates him . In combination with his good sense oft he people and their needs as well as the location he always gives 100 percent.
First successes appeared in 2010 – he shared the stage with celebrities like Eric Sneo, Tiefschwarz, Gregor Tresher, Mike Vinyl and many more.
To share his passion with all the people and feel the appeal of his music fills him with pride. With complete devotion against the mainstream Phil Sonic always remains himself faithful . From Classic electronic beats to new stuff Phil Sonic has not had enough of music.
