From 2006 we ran parties in what became a very special location on the outskirts of Glasgow. We've always tried to have little gifts on the door and on 13th May that gift was a mix CD. Almost 16 years later we're back in "The Big Joint" (Now La Discoteca) picking up where we left off. It seems appropriate to post the 2006 mix as part of the festivities!

In true Knoe fashion, release 4/1 is a compilation of tracks unearthed from a CD squirrelled away for a decade in a dusty loft. The CD in question was loaded with unreleased and untitled material from the owners of and producers for two of the UK’s rarest and sought after tech house labels rinsed by DJs such as Craig Richards in the late 90s. 

For Those That Knoe is proud to present some of the freshest and timeless sounds the UK has to offer from Numonika, sounding as good now as they would have done when recorded ten years ago. Three tracks from the original demo CD have been selected, compiled, re-mastered and pressed by For Those That Knoe onto a special 12” for collectors and club DJs alike.

Numonika’s sound is accomplished and catchy yet truly underground; each cut leans heavy on crafty synth work, bubbling acid lines, crisp robotic jazz percussion and neatly arranged melodic sequences. It’s clever, thoughtful and dancefloor friendly original material from a name you now knoe.

Derek Carr is a name known by few and far between, with only a handful of vinyl releases in the early 2000s, he built a worthy but unfortunately not widely-spread reputation for putting together stunning deep techno. Originally pressed in finite numbers, the records have recently found themselves in demand on Discogs, and rightly so, Derek’s music is in a class of its own. Having been a big fan since his releases on then local (to label owner Ben) Leeds label Geek records, For Those That Knoe has dug deep into the archives to put together a sizeable selection of Derek’s back catalogue, with some unreleased gems dotted amongst the classic must-haves.

Chapter 1 of three in Derek’s series kicks off with a classic from the Geek release B-Side, Dancefloor. Unearthed from (knoe’s favourite format) dusty DAT, Epidemic is a classy rolling tech house groover. Planet Jump was the title track of Derek’s solo EP on the excellent Headpsace Recordings. Shimmering FM chords feature heavily against bright percussion and warm basslines. Synapse 318 was the main cut of Derek’s EP on Digital Soul, stunning late night melodies and jazzy keyboard work ride over those classic electronic rhythms.
