This is a beat I sliced using Ableton Live Lite and augmented with some iMaschine instruments. I really wanted to experiment with Ableton's capabilities, so forgive this very rough beat demo. Apologies to Rupert Holmes.

Cigarettes

Work in Progress. Finally getting my hands on the Machine Mikro and put together this groove in about 1/2 hour. This is mostly Maschine, but the wah clavinet is from Logic. Was going to put a Rhodes solo over this, but that will be the next edit.

Crazy Future Funk

Another groove created with Maschine in Logic. The Rhodes is the only non-maschine instrument. This will definitely be turned into a song.

Ok, I'm putting this one in the can. I missed the deadline to submit for the Indaba Remix Contest, but I had a great time working this out anyway. I endeavored to be faithful to the original material, even harkening back to JJ's previous release, "Black Magic." Added a little flavor with some Al Green inspired organ and my own background vocals. And then flipped it with some trippy vibes at the end. Overall I'm pretty happy with the results, and I hope you enjoy it.
