MM Cast 03: RAFA

Spanish born dj, Rafa has built thru the years a vast knowledge of electronic (and not electronic) music, this obsessed digger has one of the most "well-handpicked" record collections in Berlin. His addiction to vinyls is well reflected on his sets where Rafa vary from Balearic to House, elektro, wave and some (almost) forgotten gems.

If we talk about Rafa we must mention "Way to Calypso", what it started as a brand of selected dj mixes where the Balearic Beat was the main character, evolved into an amazing youtube channel where to get lost in. A notorious music library made for the ones who loves to discover new music every day and where our friend Rafa shows a little slice of his huge record collection.

He has signed some mixes for infamous label and radio "Cómeme" where the spanish dj shows his skills entering in darker territories as Trance, new beat and synth wave.

Rafa has shared the booth with dj's from the likes of Vladimir Ivkovic, JASS and Estimulo to name a few and, last but not least, he is also one of the minds behind the berliner party collective "Ceremony", brand that has earned itself a great reputation on the underground local scene.

A man who feels the music in a different way, basically wakes up and goes to bed with some beat in his hears, constantly moving forward on the long way to Calypso.

It's been a while, but we're finally coming with another podcast after a small transformation. A young and promising Prague DJ, Malachi Constant, recorded this new piece shining with the magic number 33. Don't be fooled by his relatively short playing period; he very quickly has found his own place on the Czech electronic scene. Currently, he's active as a Fuchs2 resident, and on Radio Laude, he hosts his own show, Crescendo. In addition, he forms the duo Secret Gardens with another Prague DJ, Matysku.

Malachi's musical range is broad, unafraid to navigate sensitively between genres. We've already seen that he can get a party going wild, and now, let's enjoy his more listenable side.

Primitive is a DJ, producer, and cultural figure from St. Petersburg. Damir began playing records with jungle and drum'n bass on TESTFM online radio. Today, having expanded his musical boundaries, he is a frequent guest in the clubs of the two capitals: K-30, Blank, Izich, Mutabor. In 2021, he performed at the Signal festival and was noted at avant-garde events by Roots United and Arma17. The artist is receptive to everything new and has a statistic sensitivity. His selection is a planet of imagination, hypnotic and enticing.

The pieces of the puzzle had all fallen into place and begun to make sense as he looked outwards at the great pyramids which stood tall and overlooked the desolate city. Blocks of despair, built by a people long ago under a strict regime. That was all they were, a homage to a time in which the world stood still and those that run it ruled with an iron fist and a cold hearted gaze. They had once watched as the innocent put the bricks down for a society which they would govern with cruelty and might. Now it was time for change, time to knock them down. 

Asyncronous have been long standing favourites of the team over at Phonica. Apparently their last record was an in store favourite and featured in their best of list. Now they have welcomed them to their in house label, a special treat and a meditative record which explores deep textures and delicate tonality.
