Philipp Otterbach has been a pillar of Warning's creative development. While our friendship goes back to before the project even started, he has been shaping the sound of Warning as a resident since day one. 

He was regularly be relied upon to set the vibe at opening slots or to twist the remaining brain cells of lucky ravers at late hours. Those who are familiar with his catalogue of productions are well aware of the deepnees and multi-layered emotions he provokes as an artist. 

BUT for our last party at ://about blank we decided to unleash another side of the Otter. Surprising to some, but hypnotising the masses in the main room at peak time was something that sounded as natural as the delicate mind trips he provides on other occasions. Full throttle on the Otterbahn with a wild selection of psychedelic techno, electro and trance, he mixed a captivating two and a half hour high energy journey, which we are happy to present to you in its preserved form as the 105th Warning mix.

We both discovered Philipp Otterbach in late 2020. His debut album “Everything Else Matters” on @riolabel got us hooked for months, becoming our undisputed pandemic-era touchstone — we even secured two vinyl copies just in case. Over the years, he has released two more LP’s that further extended his trademark sound-collage production style, oscillating between a plethora of emotions: hopeful bliss, bittersweet melancholy, murky unease.

Philipp adapts this sensibility into his deejaying by creating adventurously psychedelic sets that feel less like mixes and more like cryptic narratives. This should come as no surprise since he is actually one of the first residents of Düsseldorf’s cult institution Salon des Amateurs.

His Escape Route podcast is a fitting farewell to a very strange year. Equal parts disorienting and cathartic, it’s a winding story that already feels essential to our humble platform.

Twice does not lead to a tradition - but it feels like playing for @swimsupply 🏊 . Whenever the community organisation focusing on lysergic sounds calls, I am more than happy to meet beloved Ellen, Mark Lando and Tesdorpf and to play for their fine events.

So here is a 2h recording from my gig at Wurm in Basel / Switzerland a few months ago where I met and played with fantastic @sellyourmania and @sprtsmanship and its a rare past forward 🦦💃.

Philipp Otterbach is a German artist, DJ, and electronic music producer known for his experimental and atmospheric approach to sound.
His musical journey began in the underground scene of Düsseldorf, where he became involved with the influential club Salon des Amateurs—a space recognized for its avant-garde take on club music. It was there that Otterbach developed his distinct style, one that prioritizes emotional storytelling over conventional dancefloor functionality.
His productions often feature analog synths, field recordings, guitars, primal percussion, and ambient effects, forming dense and cinematic sound collages. Listening to his work feels like entering a sonic dreamscape—rich in mood, memory, and quiet tension. There's a strong narrative quality to his music, as if each track were part of an imaginary film score.
