Christofer Kochs ist Sänger, Schlagzeuger, Songwriter und Produzent.
Seit dem Studium der Bildenden Kunst ist er freischaffend tätig und schreibt
neben seinen Ausstellungen auch Musik. Musikalisch ist er ursprünglich im Soul beheimatet, wo er für einige internationale Produktionen live und im Studio mitwirkte.

Sein nun erstes Soloprojekt entstand zu Beginn der Pandemie 2020 und wurde durch den plötzlichen kulturellen Stillsand hauptsächlich von seinem Sohn beflügelt. David Kochs, selbst ein erfolgreicher DJ und Produzent, ermunterte seinen Vater, einfach auch mal elektronische Musik aufzunehmen.

Christofer Kochs: „Ich hatte Lust darauf, mich in neue musikalische Ebenen zu begeben. Raus aus der üblichen Instrumentierung einer Band zu gehen, und andere Möglichkeiten des Songwritings zu suchen. Dabei habe ich festgestellt, dass sich neue Freiheiten ergeben, da die Art von Musik nach anderen Kriterien funktioniert. Auch wenn es nun elektronische Songs geworden sind, sind viele analoge Instrumente wie Wurlitzer, Gitarre, Toypiano und
Harp zu hören. Damit hat sich der Kreis für mich geschlossen, denn auch elektronische Musik besitzt durchaus viel Tiefgang und Seele“.

„Counterpart“ ist ein pumpender Song, der sich textlich mit Ambivalenz und Anziehung auseinandersetzt. Neben dem markanten Gesang bricht die Harmonika aus den gewohnten Songstrukturen hörbar aus. 

„Keep On“, ist eine atmosphärische Soundlandschaft die in einem entspannten Groove endet. Textlich bewegt sich der Song in der Tradition alter Klassiker von Bill Withers oder Tony Joe White. Die ewige Suche nach dem Glück und dem Ausweg aus all dem Schlamassel.

First EP release on Bandcamp, with own imprint. Call it whatever you want, but I'd call it deep funk. The track ‘Cloud Nine (Doing Fine)’, has allegedly already killed several dance floors. My rhythmic section is accompanied by the ridiculously powerful voices of The Temptations (Psychedelic Soul Period) – Dennis Edwards, Eddie Kendricks, Paul Williams, Melvin Franklin and Otis Williams –, and, as usually, by my guitar jams, groove affinity, and subtle dub made with love.

Cloud Nine (Doing Fine)

This fall Tolga Böyük, one-third of a Turkish-based islandman, went for a short trip to Copenhagen to visit Kenneth Bager. The music wasn't planned at all, but out of the idea of making the soundtracks for a non-existing movie, the two pioneers made an album in no time. 'Re-Arrange Your Face' is the third fragment.

Marco Tegui has put together the upcoming Kindisch Stories compilation featuring a wealth of his own new tracks and remixes, but before it arrives in August he serves up two of its standout singles.

Tegui hails from Peru but has been a core part of the European scene for over a decade. He was A&R for the iconic Berlin label Bar25 and sister label Sirin Music from 2018 to 2021 when he started his own DowntempoLove. He has also released on Get Physical, Stil Vor Talent and many more labels and is a skilled musician who has a live show which feeds into the way he makes his music - always with rich harmonies and lush melodies.

The superb 'Clarão de Lua' is a slow and steamy trip to South America, with bird calls in the distance, gorgeous acoustic strings and a feeling of jungle humidity amongst the rolling beats. 'Danzar' is another sublime and exotic sound with warm, rubbery beats and organic percussion next to beautiful strings. It's a cultured deep house sound unlike anything else out there.

This is a great primer for the much-anticipated collection to come in August.

Nie Wieder Schlafen returns with a long overdue comeback and brings back the notorious belgium live artist Varaz with a premium vinyl release in a heartfelt tribute to a dear friend, whose memory inspired the creation of this beautiful work of art.

Varaz gently leads the A side with 2 ambient affairs to build the base of the textured and mindful sounds that is incorporated in this white marbled wax.

The EP's first two tracks, "Agora" and "All I Hear," are sophisticated and textured ambient soundscapes that invite the listener into a contemplative and introspective state. Varaz's deft touch blends ethereal tones with intricate soundscapes, creating a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere.

"Perfume," the third track, is a deep house groover with a sublime bassline rhythm that leads the melody. Gently whispered vocals call out the titular scent, adding an air of mystery and allure to the track.

The B-side of the EP is equally captivating. "Cloud9" is a dreamy and eclectic story that excites with long-lasting pad hits, crisp percussion, and intricate details in the background. The final track, "5tuck in a Loop," is a fun and rolling dancefloor tune with a retro synthy vibe that will leave the listener grooving.

Berlin Jazz House - Club Mix

At the root of a lot of my music is an appreciation for dub culture.

Over the past few years I've been experimenting with different dub formats and workflows. Of all the files and projects I could rescue I've compiled a selection of dub related tracks for your enjoyment.

Some of these tracks were made in very lo-fi settings and have a lot of analog and digital crunch to them. Don't expect state of the art contemporary pro-studio sound design, but allow your brain and body to sink into the vibe. I may not have done it perfectly, but I dub it my way ;-)

These tracks were made for chilling or dancing with caring and loving people. Don't confuse rastafari culture with smoking weed, care for your community and elders, care for nature, care for children and enjoy the dance.
