'Tash's Movement Recordings begins the new year by welcoming Can Durmus to the label for his debut EP. The Turkish artist has been rising through the electronic underground with releases on Click Records and Symmetric Records. His unique blend of progressive house and melodic techno has earned praise from some of the world's foremost DJs, while also landing high chart positions on Beatport. Now getting 2020 off to a great start he debuts on Movement Recordings with the three track 'Gravity' EP.

Beginning with the title track Can crafts a dark, sinister creation that's nicely geared for peaktime play. Punchy beats and rolling bass unite for a powerful low end, while piercing stabs and fiery percussion add mightily to its electric nature. Spacey and dramatic, astral arps take the narrative into a tense break, melting down to emotive chord changes and a bright tonal motif, before a lengthy build cues a powerful drop.

'Algorithm' follows suit with an equally energetic approach. Robust rhythms carry the rolling groove while exotic effects and wispy atmospheres sweep across the stereo field. Once again drama and tension continue to rise, as a well-crafted break and clustered drum rolls reset the groove for a cosmic finale.

The peak time sensibility continues with the third and final selection 'Unknown Machines'. 
It's bulbous kick and charged underbelly provide a perfect balance of bounce and drive. Sinister stabs and ethereal vocals layer the subterranean groove, as the framework strips down into the main break. Spanning nearly two minutes in length, the centrepiece builds drama through acid-like clusters and a massive drum roll, eventually reaching a fiery crescendo to round out the EP on a strong note. It makes for a superb Movement Recordings debut for Can Durmus, who has certainly gotten the new year off to a great start.'

"Nuklear is the new 2-track release embodying raw and chaotic energy delivered in 6 minutes of relentless and unforgiving sonic hammering by Red Bull Music Academy Alum' Etyen. 

Nuklear starts from a minimal point and journeys through dark and twisted passages of tense synth rises and processed drum textures, relying only on the complex relationship of the few instruments at play, to reach a high of epic grandeur. While Nuklear builds up with layers of explosive drums and flurries of erratic stabs, it all gravitates around a singular driving bassline, an addictive pulse that grounds the chaos around it. Like the unpredictable potential energy of electrons orbiting a nucleus, this parallels the human experience, an existence filled with unpredictability and chaos hinging on a singular truth. At the core, there is the atom, ripe with the potential of an atom bomb, and delivered in all of its unforgiving glory, ready to bring the world to life.

On remix duties, we are proud to have on board another of Beirut’s finests, capturing our attention after his Ballroom Blitz Boiler Room. Rolbac, a virtuoso in the underground house and techno Lebanese scene, has emerged as a magnetic force reputed for his colossal sound. Rolbac operates with the methodical precision of the automated devices beneath his fingers; devices he unscrupulously manipulates to behave as he desires. With this offering, his meticulous production takes an ethereal sonic direction transfused with the four-on-the-floor signature. Sounds can come from anywhere, building layers and layers of really well crafted sound design. It’s pure psychedelic acid filled techno!

A composer and producer with diverse musical affinities within the realm of Electronic music, Etyen has, since his debut in 2013, released 5 solo EPs and a number of singles, remixes and collaborations, with a diverse but consistently unique sound, from Cinematic and Downtempo to minimal Electronica and Techno. He has been a key member in the modern Lebanese music scene with a unique sound and an eclectic catalogue that saw him tour and perform at the likes of RBMA Montreal Festival, Sonar Barcelona, Mutek, and many more over the last 7 years."
