A few years ago, one server crashed on my computer. Then I lost some midi files (including After Midnight) since I had not updated. But recently I found an old master file of After Midnight. So I remastered it.
For a while I thought I could make a whole new recording, but then it would be difficult to get the choruses identical. I am very happy with the choruses as they are.

When I made the composition I had a picture in my head of a woman who was the best dancer in the city. She always arrived after midnight and everyone was enchanted by her beautiful dance. Lucky was the one who got to dance with her.

After Midnight

Structured around 5 stages of grieving (Denial, Depression, Anger, Bargaining, Acceptance), SOLACE is a personal musical healing project I created to pay tribute to my father, who's life was taken away in a senseless gun violence on the south side of Chicago.  SOLACE stays close to my heart as I process and bring powerful closure to the past 25 years of silently grieving. I share SOLACE with millions of others suffering silently due to such unfortunate events. May the power of music bring us comfort and healing and enable us to seek compassion, forgiveness, appreciation and love for one another. Let's spread MUSIC and LOVE, not bullets and hatred, and make this world a better place. May God bless us all. Thank you!

This is the 2nd movement of my 1st symphony.  "Marches" employs the many faces marching music takes, from the exciting parade route through the "oom-pah" style of a small trio, to the somber reality of the funeral march.

This MOLTO ADAGIO completes the 1st symphony.  A lush string chorale spiced with woodwinds hands the opening over to a most gorgeous duet between the oboe and English horn that must be heard to be believed.  It is a very emotional conclusion that has spots of sonic brilliance, especially when the horns and trumpets are pushed to their limits on their tonguing skills.  The Ruhevoll is recapped as a reminder of where this journey originated, and the final morendo has the strings hand the last word to a solo contrabassoon.
