Tears Of Solitude is inspired by friendship, a supportive caring voice when all other voices go silent. That enters your life when hope seems lost, when loneliness becomes your only friend. The results of trauma, isolation, mental illness, abuse can all have lifelong effects on the body and the mind. So many battle in solitude. The chords represent that person alone in a rain of tears. The melody comes in to represent how a simple act can turn the life around of the one who is lost. no matter how simple, a powerful union happens. The music of friendship, begins. Be that friend.

I am a bass guitarist and a classical guitarist, I was curious as to how this would translate into an electric guitar. This is the result. A bit of fun :)

Optical Voices

This is the original recording of an orchestral midi composition which I composed as I played it, originally recorded onto a cassette tape. This fascinated many people at the time as I had little understanding of how music worked, i couldn’t play the keyboard, i only knew through listening to soundtracks or watching my mother play piano. The fascination of the autistic mind, showing incredible insight and talent where none existed, a brain that couldn’t process daily tasks, that was seen to be intellectually disabled. A life of institutions, for those of us so incapable, the correct environment and people draw out capabilities beyond what should be. I am a testament of what can be achieved with the correct support and love.

Phil has been a musician for most of his life. His main interest’s are playing & performing bass guitar and classical guitar, he has a passion to share his knowledge with others through tutoring. He is an accomplished music composer, arranger, producer, and sound designer. He has worked with many different bands and ensemble’s covering many music genres, as a session musician & for a service within the community. Phil enjoys all music, but his favourites are jazz, funk, classical, and metal. His great passion was his time with heavy metal band Fearscape, where he toured, composed songs & recorded two studio albums. 

He completed a Bachelor of music at Western Sydney university, as well as music performance at Ultimo College of TAFE. While studying, Phil expanded upon his interest’s into music and the mind & investigated the microscopic world of sound hidden within other sounds. He now studies and researchers within the field of Acoustic Ecology, investigating the effects of music & sound on mental & physical health, & the influence of the environment. By observing this micro world through a musical lens, Phil hopes to uncover ways to help other autistic people and those struggling with disabilities to create a much more compatible environment. This passion stems from Phil's own unique way of perceiving music through Synesthesia. A world of sound seen as colours, Creating music is like painting the music of the heart on a transparent canvas.
