Phillip Shung, a featured artist with The Brooklyn Combine's, Naming The Lost Memorials Project, entitled, "The Brown Family Legacy", engaged in a conversation with Livonia Hardison, one of the four surviving siblings of the Brown Family in Downtown Brooklyn. During their exchange, Livonia recounted her journey of grief, fortitude, faith, and perseverance amidst the challenges posed by the loss of several family members in 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic only days apart.

In memory of those impacted by the pandemic, NAMING THE LOST Memorials (NTLM), City Lore, Great Small Works, Mano a Mano, and The Green-Wood Cemetery are collaborating on a new memorial—A Big, Slow, Majestic Covid Memorial. Holding a prominent place along Green-Wood’s historic wrought-iron fence, near the Main Entrance at Fifth Avenue at 25th Street. During this time, the public is encouraged to create and add their own nameplates to the memorial. There will be a dedicated space on the memorial for public participation.

Brother Mouzone was a fictional character from the 2002 HBO series The Wire. Mouzone (from Arabic موزون mawzūn, meaning "balanced,” "weighted") is a drug enforcer and hitman from NYC.

Drum Magazine was started in 1951, as African Drum by former test cricketer and author Bob Crisp and Jim Bailey..

Initially, under Crisp's editorship, the magazine had a paternalistic, tribal representation of Africans, but within a short time Crisp was replaced and the emphasis moved to the vibrant urban black townships.

Drum's heyday in the 1950s fell between the Defiance Campaign and the tragedy at Sharpeville. This was the decade of potential Black emergence, the decade when the Freedom Charter was written, and the decade when the ANC alliance launched the Defiance Campaign. The aim was to promote an equal society. The Nationalist government responded with apartheid crackdowns and treason trials.

RIP MF DOOM

This is a tribute to DOOM with a few treats mixed in just because. Hip Hop suffered a giant loss on Oct 31, 2020 but Daniel Dumile's legacy will never be forgotten. MF DOOM is probably the most repeated artist on all of my mixes because he's one of the best that ever did it.
