Daniel Lucas - You Can't Fight

Italian born Federico Costantini is now a close member of the Hell Yeah family having released a number of EPs and a couple of little classics on the label before now. Here, for the first time, he steps out with a full-length album project that really showcases his style across nine great tracks.

As a regular spinner in Rome best parties, Luminodisco knows how to work a dancefloor in style and does so again with the tracks here, which will appeal to fans of everything from house to disco to feel good beats. He's also half of Studio22 with Francisco (Jolly Music) releases on Edizioni Mondo and generally always impresses with his unhinged sense of sound.

Opening up this LP is the title track Understory: bird calls, humid jungle ambiance and rising synths make for a great bit of evocative musical imagery that places you somewhere hot immediately.

La Mission is next and is a serious slow-mo groove awash with elastic chords, stretched vocals and prickly percussion. The Pirates then offers a playful disco jam with clipped vox and lively chord stabs, Welcome then suspends listeners amongst celestial chords and baby sounds before Equipe gets freaky with bendy bass, blurts of synth and all sorts of beautifully odd sounds and samples that are charming and curious in equal measure.

Continuing to prove he uses totally different sound sources and textures than anyone else, Da Simonetti chugs along on the laziest of drums as sun kissed synths radiate from the core.
Zenigata is a more dancefloor-aligned track with rising arpeggios, twinkling melodies and stirring, emotive synths.

Lavori Forzati is a soupy, gooey number with cosmic ripples and deep space energy permeating throughout and the album closes with the upbeat and authentic disco jam that is Oh Mary.

This album has many tricks up its sleeve but always manages to sound like nothing else as well as making you feel good in its presence. It’s moving both physically and emotionally and really takes you on a unique trip.

Keeping things nice and sleazy Parisian producer Simon Says makes his debut on Eskimo Recordings covering English synth-pop band Blancmange's 1982 album track 'Feel Me'. 

Transforming the song into the kind of outrageously funky slice new wave disco that could have sat proudly on an old Ze Records compilation its low slung groove is now sure to soundtrack as many illicit 'Cinq a Sept' assignations as it is sweaty dancefloor moments.

Upping the tempo French remixer extraordinaire Yuksek turns the track into a streamlined, sci-fi disco number complete with vocodered FX, bubbling cosmic arpeggios and synth stabs that spin off into space and builds to a suitably uplifting climax.

Meanwhile Greek producer and Eskimo veteran NTEIBINT strips the track down to its bare skin and puts the focus on its percussive elements and rubbery bass line, the result a chugging floor filler that shows exactly why Eskimo keep his number on speed dial.

Finally disco historian Bill Brewster returns to Eskimo a year on from his acclaimed 'Tribal Rites' compilation with an extended re-edit that once again proves that he's as handy with razor and tape as he is behind the decks.

Simon Says - Feel Me

Berlin producers @Franz-matthews & @LocalSuicide debuts their 2 track EP with @Eskimorecordings that have made its presence in the electronic music not only through their releases but also with their infamous parties that started in Ghent since 1998. Franz and Local Suicide have created a track that has been hailed by the resident advisor as propulsive and zen and that suits the name os the track “Meditation” and re-interpretation responsibilities have been taken by Chaim, The Oddness, Mandredas, and @NTEIBINT.

We are happy to premiere the Nteibint’s instrumental version which transcends this propulsive and zen track to a state of bliss. This one is certainly for the after-hours.

Palavas are two mysterious producers hailing from the South of France ready to position themselves as one of the hottest new Indie Dance duos on the scene. Their name, ​Palavas​, is a reference to Palavas-les-Flots (FR), a vacation town near their home that in the 1980’s owned the prestigious title of "Queen of Mediterranean Beaches.” In their music, Palavas aims to recapture this golden era, with sun drenched italo-disco elements, and summery beats.

The duo has already been busy making a mark on the scene. Their first eps were released on​ Intercept Records​ in addition to their own label, ​AZZUR, and have ​garnered DJ support by acts such as ​Hot Toddy, Gilles Peterson, Folamour, Ame, Laurent Garnier, Marcus Worgull, Grazzz, Crackazat​ and more.​ T​hey’ve also been busy DJing, with highlight performances at the​ "I Love Techno​" and "Big Bang Music Festivals" in Europe.
