For this mix, Vienna-and-Dhaka-based DJ, curator and dance floor organizer, মm. starts with Riz Ahmed's powerful commentary on questions of origins to bring all of their worlds together. They draw inspiration from their diasporic lives and their coming of age in Dhaka, the big city they call home and where they learned to DJ and politicize dance floors, to weave together sounds & rhythms in a mix that defies distinctions of so-called high and low art in music & dance. And they do it with their love for percussions, and by centering music created by artists of/from the global South and Black artists.

Having a Libyan mother and a Syrian father, Bader spent his youth between Benghazi & Damascus. He grew up listening to Libyan Tagaza Majrouda rhythms and Syrian classical music. His brother DJ Khalil was one of the pioneers in the MENA region who fused his musical heritage with hip hop beats. When Bader moved to Belgium he studied photography and became a videographer and visual artist, working for numerous artists & brands. He started curating Yalla World wide events in Ghent; bringing the cream of the crop of the alternative MENA music scene to Belgium. At the same time Bader started dj’ing and producing music with Yalla Soundsystem together with his colleague Acid Ponch. His sound can be described as a symbiose between east and west: bass heavy patterns merge with his own musical heritage from the MENA region. One thing’s for sure: Bader kills dancefloors without any compromise. Yalla Soundsystem has a residency and hosts a monthly radio show on the Paris based channel Radio Flouka.

A l'occasion de la sortie de son prochain EP "From The Ashes", Mensonges invite l'artiste Mona San à présenter son univers à travers une selecta protéiformes et des tracks inédits.

Extrême, déconstruit, contrasté, Mona San interpelle par son esthétique. Reprenant les codes de la musique populaire, il réinterprète et réinvente le mainstream avec une approche expérimentale et avant-gardiste, teintée à la fois de douceur et de brutalité.

L’artiste offre la perspective d’une identité passant de l’extrême féminin à l’extrême masculin, utilisant les traitements sonores comme des extensions identitaires. Il met en scène sa déconstruction et son expression de genre dans ses visuels via l’utilisation d’une armure organique qu’il a imaginée et réalisée sur mesure.

Cet univers artistique unique se décline dans un son pop et expérimental inspiré par Arca, Sevdaliza, Sega Bodega, ou encore JPEGMAFIA. Les styles et textures s’entrechoquent pour apporter une couleur unique à chaque titre. Après 2 singles (Reborn et Mental Health) sortis fin 2024, Mona San prépare la sortie d’un EP 6 titres “From The Ashes” pour le printemps 2025.
