As we get ready for a busy summer, of spreading the sound of tomorrow across the globe, we can't help but take a step back and bring you all the feel good, forward thinking music you know and love from Soulection. This installment of our White Label series comes from 18 year old London composer, songwriter, guitarist, singer & violinist, Tom Misch. We felt the need to list all of this in the description, because each track is such an audio masterpiece. This one is for everyone, but true fans of Dilla, and smooth, mellow, R&B inspired hip-hop beats, will definitely enjoy this release.

"Basically this EP is me attempting to make instrumentals that will effect people moods in a positive way but also make people think, all produced and recorded by myself in my bedroom. I've used a combination of obscure jazz samples but mostly live instrumentation that I've recorded, so I recored guitar, violin, bit of vocals and sound effects etc." -Tom Misch

Erica Dee has been living a life some people only dream of ‐ traveling the world as a Vocalist, DJ & MC. Her soothing, honey laced voice and playful melodies make her a highly sought after featured vocalist for many artists, and after years of noteworthy collaborations, Erica Dee is opening her heart and releasing her first ever solo album, "New Skies", on May 13, 2016.

The daughter of Bostonian jazz musicians, Erica Dee has been immersed in music her entire life. She discovered her sound within the underground electronic and hip‐hop culture of Nelson, British Columbia, Canada. Erica began singing with DJs and bands at the age of 17. In college, Erica quickly built a name for herself when she began DJ’ing a live set of her own in 2007. After seeing her live, DJ Nu‐Mark of Jurassic 5 was so impressed with her performance, that he invited her to write and record in Los Angeles. That same year she embarked on her first nationwide tour with DJ Shadow and released her classic mixtape "Golden", which combines 90's R&B flavors with nu house and beat music.

Erica Dee has captivated audiences from Brazil to Israel, and performed with a wide array of artists such as Quest Love, Mark Farina, Masta Ace, Lil’ Kim, Nneka ,Thievery Corporation, Erick Morillo, Justin Martin and Bassnectar. While living in Berlin, Erica collaborated with renowned electronic producers and completed "New Skies", her debut solo album. Produced by DJ Werd, Featuring DJ Nu Mark & Mr. Lif, the album will be released on Berlin’s Long Lost Relative label. Teaming up with DJ Werd and finding a home on his label has fallen naturally into place for Erica. The successful independent label is made up of passionate creators who support each other’s individual journeys with one common thread ‐ the music.

It has been 10 years since Fort Knox Five released their first singles, and this past decade has proven very fruitful for the funky foursome. 2003 saw the launch of both Fort Knox Five and their seminal Fort Knox Recordings imprint. To celebrate this milestone, Fort Knox Five have selected 15 of their favorite original tracks from the entire decade.

Fort Knox Five has had the pleasure of collaborating with some incredible vocalists who are well represented on this collection. Mustafa Akbar of Thunderball and Nappy Riddem is featured on several tracks, as are Rootz and Zeebo of See-I and Thievery Corporation. The Godfather of Electro Funk himself, Afrika Bambaataa is featured on two tracks. Asheru, best known for his Boondocks theme song is on the opening track. Thievery Corporation’s dancehall voice, Sleepy Wonder as well as DC’s own DIY legend Ian Svenonius are both featured. The list continues with former US3 front-man and prolific artist Akil Dasan and the Zulu Nation’s King Kamonzi. Rounding out the list of featured vocalists is Beta-G, on loan from the US Department of Bhangra.

This body of music not only spans 10 years of Fort Knox Five in the studio, but also live performances and dj appearances worldwide. This music has been performed and played for countless thousands of fans around the globe. These tunes have also been heard in such great movies as The Cove (2010 Academy Award Winner), Stand Up Guys and You Again as well as TV shows like The Fringe. No stranger to the wide world of video games, Fort Knox Five songs have appeared on Need For Speed: Shift, Skate It, NBA Live 10, Test Drive Unlimited 2, Dirt 3, Sims and others.

10 Years of Fort Knox Five shows the music diversity of the group with one foot firmly planted in funk. Reggae and dub can be heard clearly alongside hip-hop. The group is not afraid to break boundaries and delve into rock, swing and even bhangra in their musical explorations. This collection of music represents the last decade of Fort Knox Five’s musical growth and development.

An infectious brand of subterranean pop fused with soul, funk and breaks cleverly spliced together to create the distinctive sound of Grinny Grandad. Based on the scissors and string mind of Chris Morton, the bands reputation for originality has earned them shows at major festivals including Glastonbury and Beat-Herder .

Described as 'Motown meets Def Jam' by Groove Armada for their 2010 release 'The Good Girl', 2013 sees Grinny Grandad set to release their latest EP, 'The Car-Bootleg'. The lead track, 'Monty' which samples Fleetwood Mac's 'Oh Well', spliced seamlessly with a recreation of the 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail' theme song is superbly topped with the vocals of Claire Swain. It is this gem that perfectly showcases the bands exuberance, earning the track comparisons to Jon Bonham of Led Zeppelin from BBC Radio 6 host, Tom Robinson.

The quirky undertone of 'Swim Fish' blends vocals reminiscent of 1930's Pioneer Days Mickey Mouse with hard hitting breaks. An unlikely marriage of music and yet it works incredibly well. The ability to successfully shift, merge and mix genres comes natural to Grinny Grandad. 

The final track on the EP, 'Q The Pimp', a floor filling break beat anthem with a smart groove, promises to render you helpless as the guitar riffs intensify and the rhythm swells fittingly paired with the line 'everybody rumble.' Not just anyone can sample PJ and Duncan and get away with it.

This summer Grinny Grandad will be performing on the festival circuit, starting with Beat-Herder festival in early July.
