LUCAS AARON - "She's Gone" (feat. Diamond Hands)

Before the release of the ‘Sparring’ EP, Orton treats us to a second single release in the shape of ‘Amongst Us’. Having spent years working with bands from RCA Records, Primary Talent and Sony Music, Orton’s focus has now shifted to lofi driven production, often resulting in complex arrangements of instrumentation, ethereal soundscapes and driving melodies. Taking inspiration from the iconic shoegaze sound of the 80’s and 90’s, his work evolves from that, leading into new and exciting listening experiences. ‘Amongst Us’ is an inward reflective track that explores the artist’s mechanisms of processing a lot of the social anxiety, and how the artist reflected other people’s personalities because he wasn’t particularly happy with his own and always battling that feeling that you’re far from being the best version of yourself.

Orton - Amongst Us

On the 17th September, Orton, the alias of
Nottingham UK producer Will Crumpton, joined
the Phlexx Records Label with his debut single
‘Your Way’. The single presents Will’s delicate
heart wrenching lyrics, explaining his struggles of
finding his own way, layered above mind bending
guitars that push and pull around each other
convolving in lo-fi atmospheres. Championed by
Charlie Ashcroft on Amazing Radio UK/US and
being added to various Spotify Playlists such as
‘We Love Lo-fi Music’ & ‘Fresh Indie 2021’, - ‘Your
Way’ was the perfect entrance in build up to the
Artist’s debut EP ‘Sparring’ out on Phlexx Records
on the 29th October 2021.

Following this was the second single release from
the package that came in the shape of ‘Amongst Us’.

of the opening two singles we are delighted to
announce the release of entire package of Orton’s
debut EP ‘Sparring’, Out now on Phlexx Records.
Revealing the fragile state Will found himself in
during the start of this year and the process of self
realisation, dealing with topics like social anxiety
in the hard hitting upcoming single ‘Amongst Us’
a rollercoaster of walls of sound and the loss of
family in the EP finisher that is ‘Strangers’ with
layers of guitars, synth and samples that create an
ethereal journey.

Produced by Brian Batz (Sleep Party People) and multi-grammy award winning producer and mix engineer, Eduardo De La Paz (Arcade Fire, New Order), the follow-up single ‘Constantly Repeating’, out on the 12th November, conveys the longing we sometimes feel of cutting loose from the repetitive rituals of our everyday life. From the familiarity of our daily routine and surrounding faces, to the clambering over the same pavements, the lack of contrast from one day to the next can spawn the urge to riot against conformity and purely go bonkers. Suffering from a psychosis, the mind of the character in ‘Constantly Repeating’ truly runs wild as they transcend all monotony. This is further expressed by the building intensity of the saxophones as they violently dissolve into chaos. The song itself questions how often we find ourselves caught between a daring impulse and logical reasoning.

This month's release features various egregious artists who connect on My Other Side of The Moon to share their experiences through the creativity of music. 'Similani', which in Swaili means 'Stand Up' features Idd Aziz's distinguished voice in multiples sauces: the original mix by Trekkah and Mr Norble Guy is in afro house style with strong piano chords in the pauses while Kreative Nativez's remix is accompanied by a strong synth and an alternative piano melody. Included also Hanna Hais's remix which gives the track a more hypnotic and misty ambience, with powerful rhythms and atmospheric PAD. The other two tracks are by South African artist Cisco Do Sol, with a strong afro melodic house flavor. 'O Viajante' is a rhythmic track with a melody which will make you travel.. at least in your mind while 'Gatsheni' pushes the rhythm even further in a turmoil of sounds and emotions. a great pack for dancefloors again!
