Not a real taxi service but a magical music group from Martinique that produced some quality early year zouk tracks.

Taken from their first album released in 1988 that they also named Taxi Kréol, I took the Tropicana (Rainbow) track for some rework.

Used the drum solo as both the intro and outro for the edit and rearranged some bits to give it a bit more constant vibe for the dancefloor. Big oldskool zouker to give the dancefloor a lil kick.

Our first contemporary release on Avec Plaisir features a stunning collaboration of Munich-based Ly Nguyen and @supersoundglobal's @nicjalusi. We discovered "Laguna Azur" already years ago through our friend Pia and kept playing it in our sets since then, which caused almost ridiculous amounts of ID-requests from audiences all over Europe. So when Ly and Nic agreed on working together on a physical release, we knew this is gonna be something special. 

While the Original Laguna Azur Mix takes you on a motorcycle trip to  a beach bar sipping cocktails in the early 90s (with denim jackets, cocktail umbrellas and the full program), Jalusi's Acid Dub is already starting the party, when the dubby bass hits like we wanna dance into the sunset, watching smiles on everyones faces, rumpled hair from the early evening breeze. 2AM – was it Hazme Sonar or Sueno Latino or the Balearic Eric & Nic Jalusi Dream House Mix – You’re in a sea of hands up in the air when those piano chords kick in after the break. You just want to dive into the ocean for another night swim and shake your drenched body on the sandy dancefloor. A handful of friends remain at the beach in the very moment when the sun comes up and you’ll hear the hypnotizing leftfield dub "My Heart“, lying on the shore, everyone’s eyes turn into the greenish-blue color of a mystical lagoon hidden in the palm forest. A salty taste remaining on your skin.

Here is a little mix I did from my online radio show a while ago containing lots of tracks I dug over the summer in my journey discovering 90s music from CDs.

These tracks are all cd only from the PALOP countries but mainly the focus is Zouk & Kizomba from Angola & Cabo Verde, with a few oddballs from Mozambique.

Much has changed for Ilan Pdahtzur since the release of his Night City Life compilation six years ago. Back then, he was a little-known record collector who shared obscure, synth-heavy music that “captured the night-time glow” of the city he calls home, London, via a dedicated Instagram page.

Fast forward to 2025 and Ilan is now a respected member of the international digger-selector community, having delivered must-check mixes for the likes of Bordello A Parigi, Bayete, Hunee’s Lifetones and Sound Metaphors.

It seems a fitting time, then, for Spacetalk to unleash Night City Life II, a second deep dive into Ilan’s distinctive, neon-lit sound world – a place where European synth-pop rarities, Italo-dance treats, dancefloor-focused post-boogie instrumentals soundtrack strolls around shuttered skyscrapers, dockside housing estates and wharf-side warehouse conversions.

In the six years that have passed since the release of Night City Life, Ilan has uncovered many more rarities, private-press gems and slept-on treats, with 14 of these featuring on the dusty-fingered crate-digger’s sublime sequel. As with its predecessor, much effort has been made to track down the artists behind the synth-heavy songs on show, with the vinyl edition featuring extended liner notes where some tell the story of their track in detail.

Musically, there’s much to set the pulse racing within Ilan’s superb selections, from the slow-motion shuffle of Playground’s self-released 1984 B-side ‘Rainy Day Woman’ and the brilliance of Shamor’s 1985 South African synth-pop special ‘Close To You (Bwela Pafupi)’, to Sharon & Tracy’s ‘The Sheik’ – a belly-dancing inspired slab of TB-303 bass-driven house – and the kaleidoscopic, piano-rich 1992 Euro-house brilliance of ‘Come Into My Life’ by Jennifer.

Dive deeper into the collection and more under-appreciated musical masterpieces make their presence felt. There’s Sicilian musician Claudio D’Ignoti’s lesser-known boogie-era single ‘Anche Per Noi’, where rubbery bass guitar, Nile Rodgers style disco guitar licks and spacey synths dominate the sound space, Lena’s fashion circuit-inspired, early Pet Shop Boys-esque ‘Embrasse-Moi (Strumentale)’ – one that members of Milan’s Paninaro movement would surely have enjoyed – and a sublime, spaced-out and effects laden dancefloor dub of ‘Rescue Me (Imagination)’ by Jimmy D, a genuinely sought-after jam originally released on a now impossible-to-find seven-inch single.

Offering another genuinely distinctive, carefully curated collection of lesser-known musical treats, Night City Life II is another essential, immersive and synthesizer-powered journey through Ilan’s unique sonic world.

Today I'm so happy because we have one of the best dj's of the electronic scene in Brazil, I am talking about Caio T @caio-t based in São Paulo, Brazil (Gop Tun) (Dekmantel Selectors) @goptun

I met Caio T at a Dekmantel Soundsystem party in Apolo (Barcelona)  where he was playing with his collective Gop tun! I remember that they played my favorite song 1000 Ohm - Love In Motion (1984), for me it was a luxury that day to listen to such a complete set at the same time as a club bangers!!
Sometimes it's difficult to find Dj's with mystic mixes.... he does perfectcly that... his essency it's just amazing. Listen his mixes in his profile. @caio-t

Having played through some of the most diverse environments and atmospheres, such as festivals and parties like Dekmantel Selectors Croatia, Time Warp São Paulo, Carlos Capslock and several others worldwide, besides the already legendary Gop Tun parties, Caio T shows repertoire and energy to fill virtually any space and this he has shown during his gigs in Brazil or touring to Europe or United States. A hollow on the northeastern coast of Brazil? An abandoned shed in the center of São Paulo? A party in the Amazon rainforest? If you've been to any of these moments, you surely remember Caio T moving from one side to the other and the dancers following his pace while he spreads good music and vibes all over the dancefloor.

Two nights ago I went to saturn

Seletor de mão cheia, PH mistura vertentes da disco e house music com ritmos inusitados de várias partes do globo e toques de psicodelia com foco em dance music, balearic, italo disco, zouk, kwaito… Apresentando sua pesquisa seja no lounge intimista de um bar, em um galpão abandonado ou até mesmo em um barco em alto mar se adaptando a esses ambientes naturalmente.
O som do artista atravessa fronteiras e a cada ano ele vem ganhando cada vez mais espaço na cena nacional que o levou a embalar pistas pelo Brasil afora em festivais como XAMA - BA (18/19 e 19/20), MECA INHOTIM, e showcases de labels como DEKMANTEL, GOP TUN e HMTW.
Músico a 20 anos, PH Menezes, gaúcho residindo em São Paulo, descobriu seu gosto pelas pick ups em 2017 e desde então vem se aperfeiçoando na arte de balançar a pista. Iniciou sua carreira como sócio e produtor da label NEUE onde ficou até 2024. Também é o responsável pelo programa mensal Embalos da Velha Dança na rádio online @veneno.live onde experimenta suas últimas descobertas.
