Your pulse quickens, your muscles tense, and you start to sweat.  Your amygdala, a tiny walnut shaped region of the brain, sets off a chemical reaction that ends in adrenaline coursing through your veins.  Blood flows away from your skin and towards your vital organs, leaving you ashen but prepared to defend yourself.  You’re scared shitless. You try to breathe through it and remain calm, but your pupils betray your attempted demeanor.  In the middle of this all encompassing dread you begin to accept your fate and a sense of peace washes over you.  You stop fighting and embrace the fear.  You can live here.  You can live…Phobic.
