Carsten Aermes has been delivering top notch production via his Phon.o moniker since the early 00's. His trademark has evolved, but kept aconsistent kernel formation: futuristic chord developments, bass epicness and colourful patterns from the city known for its damp, grey halls of techno. 

The four tracks bring you strong, nonconformist rugged and dancefloor dedicated beats right from the first bar. On »We Just Begun« he plays with a watery microtonal intro that would feel at home both in Colundi or in a Bristol club. On »Back To Black« he lets the percussion take the lead, kick drums swinging over a thick bassline and triplet rims. »Overtake Without Catching Up« is the Ep's more narrative track that brings together driving drums and melancholic synth patterns, keeping it psychedelic with a rolling bassline that stretches across the harmony. »Bright Sun« opens already nervously and tense, with a pulsating Chicago-style chord opening the way for harder but somehow slick drums. The bass/synth melody work releases the tension and opens up, perfect for those dancers or dj's listening beyond the beat.

Dutch electronic music duo Polynation returns to Atomnation with Bloom, a new EP featuring guest appearances from Itai Weissman and Eric Vloeimans.

Polynation has always employed a wide range of gear to make their music, from synths, bass, guitar, and pedals to their unmistakable use of acoustic drums. This time, they have guest musicians Eric Vloeimans on trumpet and Itai Weissman playing saxophone and EWI — a digital wind instrument. The EP is their investigation into the symbiosis between electronically generated sounds and acoustic wind instruments. It finds them playing wind instruments in unconventional ways to mimic the language of a synthesizer and contrasting them with electronic sounds that breathe and feel alive, as if acoustic. "We are particularly interested in the sonic world where the boundaries between electronic and acoustic sounds begin to blur," they explain. They now take that concept one step further on this latest outing.

“The interesting thing about the EWI is that it plays like a traditional wind instrument but is able to control synthesizers and even samples. You get a very organic and fluid tone because of the volume and pitch control, which you couldn’t get any other way. Sometimes we forgot that a recording was actually coming from a synth played through an EWI instead of being played by either trumpet or sax,” they add.

Opener "Hyfen" is majestic techno-jazz, an inviting blend of liquid synths and drawn-out chords with melancholic trumpets drifting on top. All sorts of watery droplets, organic hits, and melodic flourishes add rich detail and lasting emotion to the free-flowing sounds. The beautiful and beatless "Bloom" is more suspensory, as somber, drawn-out trumpet notes linger with a heavy heart over sustained chords that encourage deep inward reflection. "Ritueel" is a rousing symphony of hopeful chords and lush drumming, full of bristling, joyful energy. Twinkling keys rain down next to the subtle, enriching sounds of the trumpet in this most mellifluous of tracks. "Fade" is a quietly dramatic closer. The chords are heavy, and the unmistakable tender trumpet playing by Eric Vloeimans speaks to the soul as things build to a crescendo before fading away and leaving you in a world of contemplation.

Stijn Hosman and Hessel Stuut have been regulars on this label for almost a decade, crafting meticulous sounds rich in melody and texture. Last spring, they released Wald, which captured the beauty of nature and the joy of isolation. That came after three previous EPs and an album, Igneous, which has picked up more than 20 million Spotify streams. The pair are renowned for fusing pop, ambient, synth, and minimalist charms in their dynamic live shows, performing everywhere from Best Kept Secret and Wildeburg to Secret Garden Festival, ADE, and DGTL.

Bloom is another deep dive into the adventurous sonic alchemy of the continually innovative Polynation.

Nein Records label boss Tronik Youth aka Neil Parnell debuts on Roam Recordings with his new EP Tunnel of Hate. Over the years Tronik Youth has made an indelible mark in dance music through his many and varied outstanding productions, his seminal monthly radio show, and his prolific record label.

The Tunnel of Hate EP showcases two original offerings from the artist. The title track starts the collection with 80s tinged industrial disco while Insecticide blasts of post apocalyptic electro punk.

The EP also comes with three excellent and diverse remixes. Mexican producer Rigopolar, known for his stunning productions on labels such as Tom Tom Disco and Spa in Disco, takes on Tunnel of Hate and remixes it into an epic dark disco number that begs for smoke machines and lasers. The second remix comes from none other than legendary dance music innovator The Hacker who's superb remix could just as easily be played in an 80s industrial set as with modern dark wave. Rounding out the EP is a remix from Australian duo Stockholm Syndrome who add a stylish new beat flavor to the mix that is both provocative and easy to slip into.

All mixes on this EP combine into a cohesive dark, disco, industrial, new beat infused offering perfect for smoky warehouse parties, dim lit after parties, and edgy late night affairs.

Luca Venezia's aka Curses imprint continues to go from strength to strength with trademark bass guitars  and musicality which defines both the artist and label. This is perfectly highlighted in ' Betonada' by @SaltoHonduras, the debuting artist is already a well known figure in the Berlin scene in his role at Renate, as a DJ and drummer for the likes of Moscoman and Curses live shows. From this showing soon to make a big splash in the world of production too.

     Group Rhoda, the solo project of Mara Barenbaum, returns to Dark Entries with ‘Passing Shades’. An integral member of the Oakland electronic music scene, Barenbaum has been writing, performing, and plunging into oneiric depths as Group Rhoda since 2009. This is the project’s fourth LP, and the third time Barenbaum has collaborated with Dark Entries; previously on the Max & Mara LP ‘Less Ness’ in 2013 and the Group Rhoda LP ‘Wilderless’ in 2017.
	Passing Shades is an investigation of the metaphysics of loss and the transitory nature of the material world. But it is not a grim collection; over 8 songs, Group Rhoda diverges through synthesizer-laden symphonics, four-to-the-floor inflections, and cosmic musings. Barenbaum’s striking voice and singular songcraft guide us through this labyrinth. Arpeggiated waltz “Flow” channels wisdom sought through martial arts; “Earthly Ark” sets a Margaret Atwood poem from the God Gardener’s Hymn Book to somber electronics. The vocoded canticle “Nevermore” is dedicated to the memory of a beloved cat. ‘Passing Shades’ is both mystifying and revelatory. Folk forms are echoed only to detour into the alien. Each song functions as both a fragment of a larger puzzle and a koan unto itself.

This is the second 12” EP that closes The Avantroots Dub Techno Compilation ESPECTRUM II

The first track from Pulshar since 2018, “Accept Fate”, is a dreamy ambient dub track with a heavy reggae dub influence that could work as the background sound for an eerie island.

Biodub’s “Unterfluss” is an ambient dub track that evolves progressively and drags you into a restless and magnetic atmosphere.

The dusty, uneasy and strangely sexy “Spacechord” from Heavenchord is an hypnotic ambient dub track inherited from dense atmospheres.

And to close this excellent compilation, none other than Julian Perez delivering an impeccable and elegant dub techno track to fill the dance floor with class.
