Carsten Aermes has been delivering top notch production via his Phon.o moniker since the early 00's. His trademark has evolved, but kept aconsistent kernel formation: futuristic chord developments, bass epicness and colourful patterns from the city known for its damp, grey halls of techno. 

The four tracks bring you strong, nonconformist rugged and dancefloor dedicated beats right from the first bar. On »We Just Begun« he plays with a watery microtonal intro that would feel at home both in Colundi or in a Bristol club. On »Back To Black« he lets the percussion take the lead, kick drums swinging over a thick bassline and triplet rims. »Overtake Without Catching Up« is the Ep's more narrative track that brings together driving drums and melancholic synth patterns, keeping it psychedelic with a rolling bassline that stretches across the harmony. »Bright Sun« opens already nervously and tense, with a pulsating Chicago-style chord opening the way for harder but somehow slick drums. The bass/synth melody work releases the tension and opens up, perfect for those dancers or dj's listening beyond the beat.

The New Delhi–based, multifaceted, and genre-fluid artist returns to his homegrown label with a new concept EP titled Pulp Fictiøn. Taking inspiration from the film, the EP features four intertwining tales (tracks) that revolve around the artist’s experiences, motives, and state of mind.

“I’m no longer catering to ‘Techno Enthusiasts’ or ‘Bass-heads.’ I made this for people who can appreciate music without trying to fit it into a box or a playlist.”

Electro riffs, chopped vocals, hypnotic breaks, and classic bass grooves—all thematically linked together by one life, one story, spanning 21 minutes and 34 seconds, that define ‘Bønehead’......for now.

bRUNA and Wooky are two key figures in Spanish electronic music. Regulars in the line-ups of festivals such as Mutek, Primavera Sound and Sónar, where they have performed on many occasions, both have a solid recording career behind them, which has led to them becoming part of the Red Bull Music Academy and topping the best of the year lists (bRUNA’s two LP's were named "Album of the Year" in Spain in 2009 and 2013).

Both are also co-directors of Lapsus, a multidisciplinary project founded in 2004 that has established three lines of activity: Lapsus Radio, their famous program on National Radio of Spain; Lapsus Festival, the avant-garde electronic music festival held annually at the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona; and Lapsus Records, for which they have already published distinguished artists such as Pye Corner Audio, Dalhous, Plaid, Etch, Kettel and Ametsub.

So it is of no surprise that the union of both creative talents would result in a split recording sooner or later. "Archives" is their first adventure together and also their personal vision of ambient music and its different branches. A further twist in the career of two unique artists.

Lapsus is also proud to announce that bRUNA and Wooky will be premiering "Archives" at Sónar Festival 2016 on June 18th along with the incomparable Alba G. Corral, who will be in charge of visual support to this really special occasion. 

The beautiful photographs that make up the artwork on the album are by Albert Miralles, Cristina Salinas and Alfons Pich, and the design was created by the studio Basora.

'Quiet Love' by Souns

Our favourite bothy botherers Mac-Talla Nan Creag (comprised of Hoch Ma Toch, Other Lands and Lord Of The Isles) return to Firecracker Recordings, channeling ancient rites, the mysteries of the Scottish landscape and its elements through technologies both old and new for your listening pleasure.

This time round the archaeological work of Forestry Commission Scotland at Dun Deardail in Glen Nevis, and the links between that site and the ancient Celtic myth ‘The Sorrow Of Derdriu’ provided fertile ground for new exploration and response. Accompanying the music once again will be a lush booklet containing some of the stunning imagery that results from the work FCS have done there, all packaged and silk-screened with the usual finesse we've come to expect from Firecracker Recordings and their chief visionary House Of Traps.

Captured in part in a high vaulted medieval church, then in home studios, bouncing ideas back and forth over the internet, MTNC have once again drawn on field recordings, traditional instrumentation, analogue electronics and the simple power of the human voice to create a shimmering and expansive song cycle.

Whereas the first album was borne out of an intense period of field trips and whisky fuelled jam sessions in brochs and had a loose approach overall, the second is perhaps more focussed in its themes relating to the ancient tale - love, war, beauty and tragedy all intertwined - and they arguably go deeper this time, conjuring up something of the Fourth World feel, by way of the Firth Of Forth.

With additional contributions from Professor John Kenny - whose primal Zummoesque playing on a range of horns including a giant conch shell and a replica of the ancient Deskford carynx underpins several tracks on the album - and Eva Sutherland (daughter of Other Lands) who provides a reading from the myth at the very beginning, this is an album that not only carries the heaviness of history but also looks to the light of the future.'

DOMA in Russian means “at home”. For the last two months, my home has been a small city close to the Atlantic Ocean named Saint-Gilles-Croix-De-Vie. I am there, luckily, surrounded by so many soundscapes: new birds, different noises of waves, thunderstorms, and hundreds of seagulls. I'm spending so much time observing seagulls’ life here, how they are making nests on our roof, flying against the wind, catching fish on the waves. I was recording flute with open windows so you can hear all those Atlantic noises. First track it’s a flute singing to seagulls, then seagulls to midi and midi to flute chain. Some of the tracks sound like soundscapes or cycles which you can loop. It’s like a daily routine of moments that I have started to appreciate more and more during this lockdown, finding surprises inside myself without a mirror.
