Hot on the heels of the success of the Phonica AM’s debut release, label curator Luther Vine has unearthed another rare find. London based Subb-An is no stranger to all manner of Tech and Minimal sounds. He’s well known for the high calibre releases on his own One Records and countless seminal releases on labels far too many to mention. Yet on ‘Synchronicity EP’ you will discover Subb-An like you’ve never heard him before. The newly found sound that he explores here with ease and panache is both steeped in 90’s history yet with knowledge of modern dancefloors.

The tight and driving opener ‘Synchronicity’ is sharp as a tack. The relentless kick of the 909 is peppered with Acid-tinged synths. A banger by all means, yet due to the eerie sensual vocals the overall feel of the track is positively hypnotic. It is followed by ‘Salvia Apiana’. The track evokes the Tribal rites with its gamelan influenced arrangement and superbly inventive use of playful arps. This melodic yet danceable sage scrub is guaranteed to rejuvenate all manner of tiered dancefloors.

The flip side opens with ‘Higher Frequency’ and travels far beyond the straight forward beatscapes of obvious and mundane. It resonates on mystic frequencies of Techno spectrum but remains infectiously danceable at all times.The closing track of the EP is an understated meditative masterpiece. ‘Atlantis’ takes bright jubilant semi-tones and sees them timidly burst through the artfully constructed dusty soundframe. The more you listen to it the more you will hear. Pure magic.

PREMIERE: Beqa Kacheishvili - Intentions

FP003 - A continuous Stream of Sonics Running in Your Area

`Running In Your Area` is the third Faux Poly release of 2022 from label bosses Kassian. The release solidifies the mood of the label and moves Kassian closer towards a heavier techno sound, just in time for their Berlin debut at Panorama Bar and HÖR this summer. All three tracks feature the instantly recognisable voice of Theo Parrish, lifted from his infamous Eargoggles show on NTS.

`The Machine` builds on pads and acid elements synonymous with Detroit techno and introduces a strong UK Dubstep influence. This festival leaning electronica track remains restricted and confident, creating a sense of power and presence.

`Off World Vehicles` is simple and surprisingly explosive, a weighty statement techno track suited for bigger rooms, featuring a slow churning acid line and cavernous vocal loop.

Finally, `Actions` is a solid rolling techno club tool which manages to be both reliable and unstructured at the same time, with a looped out vocal and talkbox style acid line.

PREMIERE: Lastone - Day One [House Cookin' Records]

Fresh off the back of her recent DJ Kicks compilation release and an EP for Shall Not Fade in 2021, Cinthie returns to Will Saul’s Aus imprint for her first EP release of 2022, once again delivering her raw, energetic House sound to the world. Title-cut ‘Light A Fire’ leads the way and lays down organic drums, hypnotic vocal lines and choppy stab sequences alongside bumpy bass tones, intricately unfolding synth swells, resonant bleeps, and dynamic delays, resulting in a big sun-drenched anthem to perfectly set the tone. ‘Keeping Strong’ follows next and employs classic House tropes via gritty string stabs, plucked bass notes and dubbed out vocal cuts, running atop skippy, swinging drums for six and a half minutes. ‘Everything’ then rounds out the release, diving deeper this time as Cinthie employs dubbed out chords, weighty subs, crunchy percussion, and cinematic, elongated strings swells, concluding the release with a smooth, emotive feel.

Milio completes his most accomplished year yet with a third EP of 2022 on Atomnation. One More is the latest in a series and is a three-track deep house trip through the cosmos.

There has been no stopping Milio recently. His current run started with a debut album last year and since then he has continued to explore new ground within his signature sound as well as unveiling a captivating new live show. It's no surprise he's a resident now at the Willem Twee studios in his hometown Den Bosch where he has hosted many artists from Frank Wiedeman to Carista and Space Dimension Controller. He is now adept at speaking through the vast array of hardware in that studio and his own, as this new EP proves.

Opener Paradise Police is the sort of warm and balmy deep house track that hugs you in tight. It encourages inward reflection, with cuddly chords and whispered vocals making you feel safe as the woody drums roll on. The smeared synths and bubbling bass finish it off in style.
