Yes! Massive getting DJ Nature on the remix

With a tribalistic percussion launch into a warm and silky bassline, Supply Shuttle spins the dice on the deep house edges through linear but meticulous patterns of synth simplicity. 

The scarcity of snares puts the track just enough into the dance-floor realm but still exquisite enough for sun-drenched coast places especially with that subtle rhodes washing over the faint 303 shots in the background. Notal pulled a smooth move here further erasing the faint border between the two genres. And yes, sometimes the border gets pushed more into one over the other. 

Such is the case with Airlock Nation, clearly showing this imbalance in the most pleasurable way. With a straightforward shake onset floating on a solid rhythm throughout the ride, the track leans more on the floor side covering the early night with subtle and warm darkness step by step. The midnight glow emitting from the melodies is beautifully cocooned into deep sway smudged by ritual bongo hits. The track exports a sentiment of nostalgia in a positive and warm way while cleverly pushing the vibe over the mentioned border into a night dance. 

A Walk Thru The 20th continues this sway but implements a synth carrier into the foreground further developing the club feel. And this is where Notal shines truly because even in this kind of atmosphere he almost unnoticeably lays the track on perfectly fitting tribal shoulders stamping the core of the track with earth-grounding charisma. Both audio worlds, one audio shine. 

And still, on the other side of the playfield, Nature Of Offences is grounded heavily in slow and throbbing kicks paralleled with equally heavy claps and constant interchange of beautiful pads, strings and percussions. Although the track is stirred with a filtered 303 bassline, the overall feel points into a deep and seductive zone. 

It flows subtly through different areas of analogue and synthetic forms spewing a late 90s warm-up feel. Well rounded release from Aleqs Notal!

15 Years Drumpoet

It all started with a community of DJs and beatmakers. Inspired by the various electronic techno + house tingled music from Detroit and Chicago and a deep passion for UK bass music as well as US hip hop and 70’s soul-jazz. This crew of guys from Zurich and the surrounding area combined all of that and started creating a sound which they called b-boy house and teknowsoul. The first bunch of releases brought international breakthrough and artists like Soultourist, Quarion, Cavalier, The Lost Men, and John Daly left a deep impact and sparked the interest of the global dance scene. Back then Alex Dallas hosted the Loud Minority Nights at the infamous Dachkantine in Zurich, inviting special and like-minded international guests. Accompanied by the artists of the Drumpoet Community, this night became a blueprint and was continued in Alex's new club Zukunft (founded in 2005) and to this day the Drumpoet's host institutional nights there.

The club was always the spot where it all came together and where the new music was tested. it was clear from the very beginning that it had to embrace joy, passion, dedication, and positivity. Ron Shiller and Alex Dallas share the same philosophy when it comes to music. They do not jump on trends quickly. In contrary to the usual mechanisms of the hype dance music industry, they let the music breathe like a bottle of good old wine and take the time it needs to present timeless quality dance music.

This compilation manifests the long history of the label, the friendships made over decades, and the honest love for dance music. Drumpoet is more than proud to present a compilation celebrating the label's 15th or even 16th anniversary, with special performances by iconic artists such as Herbert, Roman Flügel, Frank Wiedemann, Manuel Tur, Lauer, John Daly, Kalabrese, Manuel Fischer, Nicola Kazimir, Ripperton and Jimi Jules. A journey into the world of sounds, profound without dogma and as brave and innocent as it gets.

Exclusive Premiere: Matthew Herbert "Air" (15 Years Drumpoet Compilation)

Motordiscs announces only its second release of the year so far – as ever prioritising quality over quantity – with an exceptional EP from celebrated Mexican electronic duo Zombies In Miami. 

Zombies In Miami is a project created by Cani & Jenouise and despite the name they are not crawling around Miami, but shining out their light from Mexico. The couple became one of the most prominent members of Mexico‘s vital electronic scene over the last decade. You can call their sound a rhythmic and synth-driven house and techno hybrid, with a disco and balearic twist, which is held together by the oh so sweet Italo Drama.

With highly acclaimed EPs and tracks for such diverse labels as Gerd Janson's Running Back, Jennifer Cardini's Correspondant, Prins Thomas's Internasjonal as well as Hippe Dance or Cin Cin, they released their debut album 2712 on Permanent Vacation in 2020 to critical acclaim. 

The City Of Love is a wonderfully crafted EP that straddles the boundary between electro, house and indie-dance, incorporating the myriad influences and styles that have made Zombies In Miami such a celebrated act. 

The title track is a huge, soaring, instantly invigorating cut, with a triumphant lead, chugging bassline, syncopated synths and Depeche Mode-esque vocal steadily building over the course of its nearly 9-minute running time. Aurora is more subdued but equally intoxicating, with warm bass notes and shimmering synths creating a deeply hypnotic vibe. 

On the remix, Germany’s Barnt transforms City Of Love into a glacial deep techno cut, with spectral synths and ethereal vocal textures leading the way. 

Motordiscs is a record label created by the people behind Parisian nightclub The Garage. The club was shut down during summer 2018 but its spirit has lived on through the label, which has seen releases from The Juan Maclean, Kasper Bjørke, Sascha Funke and more. 

On Thursday 07 July Motordiscs will host a release party at Rex Club Paris, featuring sets from Barnt, Zombies In Miami (Live) and Daniel Weil.

Following a stunning debut LP on Planet Trip in 2021 Two Ends offers up a glorious EP for Shades Of Sound Recordings. Comprised of three original tracks that are rich in colourful melodies and dreamy textures, drifting beautifully between deep house energy and a warm downtempo feeling. Remixes come in the form of a gorgeous blissed out rework from LOVA while Joe Morris offers up both a shimmering downtempo mix and a deeper club cut.

The title track and cover image plays homage to the beautiful Yaverland beach at dusk. That and every other moment happens to us only once, so we may as well savour it with full attention. Frame of Mind is about the inner narratives we tell ourselves to make sense of life events whilst Crossings explores the joys and pains of living between countries, cultures and peoples.

 Australian producer Ben Sun joins Phonica’s main label with a solid four track EP of House music in its various forms, from slick Disco loopers to deep ambient tribal rhythms.

The now London-based Ben Davidson has a string of well-received records under his belt, under the aliases Benjamin Sun, Earth Patterns and now as Ben Sun. His regular outings on Delusions Of Grandeur and Voyeurhythm are particularly of note, as well as recent excursions on Utopia and Razor N Tape. We’re delighted to have him as part of the Phonica family now too!

The 12” starts with ‘Trip’, a gradually building filtered Disco teaser, with classy deep House number ‘Mellow Madness’ following up. On the flip is the sumptuously balearic roller ‘Glow’, before the record’s euphoric floor-filler ‘Siren’ rounds out the record in style. We have a feeling this particular earworm will be lingering in records bags (and USB sticks) for some time!
