King Kooba & Simone "Flash" Gordon - L.O.V.E.Y.O.U.

UK-based soul titans Mamas Gun are set to share new music for the first time since their massively successful 2018 album, 'Golden Days'. We are delighted to premiere the uplifting Bill Withers tribute, "Looking For Moses".

Written the day Bill Withers passed away, "Looking For Moses" pays righteous homage to the great soul man with Andy Platts’ honeyed vocals bringing apposite warmth to a joyously groovy and beautifully crafted slice of soul.

'Looking For Moses' is due for release as double AA single with "Party For One" via Candelion on January 14th, ahead of full album 'Cure The Jones'.

Written and produced during the pandemic by Mamas Gun frontman Andy Platts with additional intricate soundscaping from drummer Chris Boot, 'Cure The Jones' was recorded direct to tape with an array of analogue gear at Platts’ home studio in just three days, focussing the soulful energy of the band into a coherent gospel-tinged whole.

We've set stages ablaze since 2013, so we know a thing or two about “Entertainment”. On the 2nd single from upcoming “Lexplosion II” LP @funkembassyrecords, we reveal our soulful side. The slow-burner is a meditation on our past as well as the showbiz in general. After 7 years of putting on lexplosive shows it feels as though it's time to contemplate. Our 3rd album "Lexplosion II" will be out via Funk Embassy Records on May 29th. The 8-track LP provides fire power for the funk-soul-disco DJ, albeit remaining a pleasure treasure for the leisure listener. First time ever, the 6 piece Estonian group has invited collaborators: the loose-wristed guitar funk icon Cory Wong from US; the Brazilian percussion maestro Luiz Black who’s gigged with James Brown and recorded with gigs on his résumé; and a local dame with staggering licks on the violin - Liis Lutsoja. 

Made available on vinyl, CD and digitally, the record comes with original artwork by Estookin - a painter who did portraits of all the band members in addition to the volcano that couldn't hold them inside for much longer! The records are 180g vinyl, pressed in Estonia; the CD version opens up to form a 3D volcano.
