It is our seventh release dedicated to  humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian people. The donation proceeds will go to one of the largest humanitarian centers in Kyiv, for the needs of the Ukrainian people, organized by our friends from the All-Ukrainian Association of Musical Events.

Has there been a finer production year than 2016 for Anja Schneider? The influential artist delivers another expertly-crafted two-tracker sure to soundtrack summer.

There’s a certain smile on Anja Schneider’s face these days and it’s got nothing to do with the illusive Berlin summer finally making an appearance. Tucked away in a studio in Berlin’s Pankow district, the artist has been in the midst of arguably the most inspired creative patch of her career.

From the ‘Soul Traveler’ EP she dropped in January that was rated by XLR8R as ‘one of her best for several years’, to her deft remix of Catz ‘N Dogz ‘Joy’ that was rinsed by B.Traits on Radio 1, to the stunning dreamy bliss of ‘Caracus’ – her contribution to the recent Moon Harbour compilation, the Berliner and her studio partner Jan Eric from Autotune, have clearly struck upon something special.

Schneider’s a special artist – make no mistake. Although always working with a range of co-producers over the course of her decade plus career, you can always feel her whimsical sonic cheek and unmistakable groove imprinted on each track, as her tracks grow on you more and more with each curious listen.

Her latest output ‘Rain’ EP is the sound of the artist flexing her musical muscle, embracing and exploring analogue hardware and going deeper to explore the infinite possibilities of the electronic music production palette.

The title track drips with rich velvety soul and a vocal that lingers long past the repeated rewinds you’re sure to give it; it’s ripe for summer, but encapsulates a certain timeless funk that’ll see it receiving love long after the temperature drops. ‘Sunny Side Up’ is sumptuous, plump and jazzy and ozzes a warm rounded feel, thanks to Schneider’s embrace of Jan Eric’s extensive synth collection.

“I loved working with a lot of the old synthesizers such as Oberheim, Virus, Jomox and Chroma Polaris, which gave the tracks a very special touch. We did everything with analogue gear – it was much more involved, but also fun. I wanted to create a more soulful warm EP and go a lot deeper into production and sound design. I learned a lot doing these tracks and already feel more focused and inspired.

“The EP was inspired by Jan and I’s trips around the world. We spent so much time collecting sounds and impressions, but were never happy with the weather situation anywhere we went. It was raining in almost every place we visited and we of course wanted to go out and explore. So we had to let it out with this EP [laughs].” - Anja Schneider.

The french wizard Sebastien Leger signed responsible for the remix duties. D-Nox & Beckers Disorder is maxing out the simple idea of one odd shifting arp motive rocking the whole track. Strange Days is a solo track of Frank Beckers. We were hooked by the psychodelic ambience of the tune at once. Beckers showing of his mastership of creating weird and trippy arp line tunes combined with undeniable dancability. Sebastien Leger remix of Disorder is playing creatively with the dominant main motive mangeling it straightening it and showing a beautiful new view on the original with a strong affection for the dance floor. Berlin-based award-winning producer, label owner, and one of Europe’s most sought-after house DJs – has left an indelible mark on the global electronic music scene.

With over 100 releases and remixes on acclaimed labels such as MoBlack, Dessous, Poker Flat, Crosstown Rebels, Stil vor Talent, Systematic, Bunny Tiger, Katermukke, Bar 25 Music, and Ritter Butzke, his prolific output cements his status as a house music innovator.

Phonique's career catapulted to fame in 2004 with the iconic club anthems “The Red Dress” and “For the Time Being.” However, it was his timeless hit “Feel What You Want” from his 2010 album – amassing over 50 million views on YouTube – that solidified his global reputation. His four critically acclaimed albums showcase his evolving sound, diverse influences, and profound intuition for igniting dance floors worldwide.

In July 2022, Phonique launched his label Zatar Music, debuting with a Korolova remix of “Feel What You Want.” The label highlights his melodic and Afro-Arabic house inspirations, drawing from his travels to countries like Jordan, Ukraine, and Armenia. With releases from artists such as Fairplay, Roo, Nilu, and Gui Boratto, Zatar Music embodies Phonique’s adventurous sonic vision. Remixes by Hyenah, Korolova, Gorje Hewek, and others have earned Zatar tracks spots in Black Coffee’s Spotify playlist and Adriatique’s iconic Cercle set.

2022 also marked Phonique’s residency at Berlin’s renowned club Ritter Butzke, following his debut release on their label. Playing alongside international stars like Korolova and Franky Wah, Phonique continues to inspire with his electrifying performances.

As Identification, his debut album, approached its 20th anniversary, Phonique is planning a special release featuring acoustic reinterpretations and fresh remixes of classics like “For the Time Being feat. Erlend Oye” and “Café Monte Carlo feat. Dixon.” This milestone reaffirms his ability to revisit and reinvent his own legacy.

An unexpected highlight in 2024 was the resurgence of “Feel What You Want” in its slowed version, trending on Shazam charts in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan, and peaking at #15 on the global Shazam charts. This momentum inspired an upcoming “All Mixes” release on Zatar Music, featuring remixes from Korolova, Vintage Culture, Bruno Be, Tom Novy, Aka Aka, and a highly anticipated new version by Ukrainian duo Artbat.
