Phonix Records is proud to present the long overdue debut album from ReFractor - Phantom Effect. After many years and numerous releases honing his craft, ReFractor (Luan Boes / South Africa) put together this magnum opus. 

Intrigued by the ever changing landscape of science and technology, ReFractor focused on the fleeting and profound place of music in society. Over the journey of 9 tracks - this album covers a variety of soundscapes and textures. 

Starting with the epic and slowly building dancefields of “Ivy”, to the precise laser cut “Clockwork Failure” and then to the hard hitting and  grim tech monster of “Qubit”. The title track - “Phantom Effect” is a serious groover which sets the tone for things to come. With “Blizzard” ReFractor takes things to the next level, an epic and driving track that leads perfectly into ReFractor’s remix of Deliriant (Shane Renew/South Africa) classic from 2007 - “Phase Me”. A perfectly balanced combination of new and old - the remix is destined to be a crowd favorite.

The album winds down arch starts in style with “Eclipse” - a serious sci fi groover that blends ReFractor’s own brand of space scapes with a hint of melody. Followed by “Connect the Dots” - a wild story of shifting dimensions and unrelenting basslines. To finish things, ReFractor stretched out his sonic muscles and our sonic reality - giving birth to the sleazy and slinky psybient story of the “Naughty Robot”. A dimensional portal into space squelch and deep soundscapes, a fitting farewell that captures the fever dream of the Phantom Effect. 

A big thanks to Deliriant for allowing us to remix his work, Scorb (Ady Conor/UK) at TRK Mastering for the pristine masters and X-Side (Luis Cruz/Mexico) at Pentagraphix Design for his excellent design work.

Phonix Records is happy to end the year on a powerful note with a monster compilation - our last release for 2025, put together by amigos Ionkhe (Ivan Lugo/Mexico) and Cosmic Conexion (Josue Mares Beccerra/Mexico). We are beyond excited to share the vision of “First Contact”.

With this compilation, Phonix Records continues to expand its sound palette into the realms of new age twilight energies, groovy and powerful stories from other worlds designed to make dancefloors move. The release starts with Kobre (Andrés Abarca/Mexico) and the fittingly titled “Sic Parvis Magna”. A slowly evolving full on groover to jump start things… greatness from humble beginnings indeed. Taking a more sharp-edged tone is Dagar (Gerardo Diaz/Mexico) with “Psynapse Protocol” - a healthy dose of classic night full-on energies. Pristine mechanical mayhem laced with the right amount of melodies make this destined to be a planetary favorite. 

Starting the psychedelic chapter for this voyage into the unknown is the psychedelically inclined groover from Lante (Lucas Pariente/Argentina) with “Instant Lunch”. A glorious squelcher of a beast, a perfect setup for what follows. The no non-sense groover “Jungle” by Kalicell (Ismael Pérez/Mexico) is a dancefloor marauder of epic proportions, moving from strength to strength. Not to be outdone are Noise Wares (Ismael Rodriguez/Mexico) with their story of “Creation is the Reaction”. A fast paced tune that winds itself around tightly honed grooves and acid leads that only push one way… onward and upward. Reaching the pinnacle of resonance are Ionkhe & Artificial Concepts (Mauricio Enrique Coronel/Mexico) with the fastest track of the release - “Hacked Realities”. True to its nature, this track glitches in and out of dimensional sync - a full on blast from another dimension.

Leading up to the final chapter of the release - Olokun (Maikas Rizo/Mexcio) & Shakti Muni (Mexico) start things off with “Carribean Groove”. A uniquely funky and jazzy full powered track perfect for a dancefloor stomp. Olokun continues forward with another funky and fun chunky monster that helps slow things down towards the final story on the release. Ionkhe joins the frey again with amigo Space Ape (Robin Levin/ Sweden) in tow - to end the release, with the epic, funny and somehow downright serious story that is… Nunya Business. 

A shout out to Homegrown Mastering (Mexico) for the impeccable mastering, Ionkhe for pulling double duties on graphics design along with assembling this fine release with amigo Cosmic Conexion.

At the helm of this special release is AxonDop (Pedro Trindade/Germany) - the deeply moving psygressive project from the driving force behind atSar. 

With an epic first release last year - Freedom - on our collaborative release with Lysergic Records (Mexico), “Lysergic Animals”, it was a fitting time to revisit the project. As AxonDop, Pedro dials into sonic energies that help perfectly trigger dopamine transmitters - crucial for experiencing reward and motivation. After our busiest year yet at Phonix Records - 10 releases with close to 40 tracks - its a time to reward ourselves with “Mind Control”.

The release starts with showcasing a monster remix of “Presence” by Ace Ventura (Yoni Oshrat / Israel). A full powered epic saga that grooves, overflows with melodic energy and elevates from the original in a manner truly becoming a great remix. 

The second track is an AxonDop original, “Mind Control “ - the title track of the release. A serial groover, that hints and teases at mysteries of cosmic proportions - meticulously constructed for complete Mind Control.

In November 2013, Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines. The super typhoon caused unimaginable loss of life and the displacement of more than 4 million people. We at Phonix Records believe that the relief efforts there are a cause worthy of our support.  Thus the story of ‘Pag Asa’ – the Filipino word for hope – came into being. Hope is the central idea of our release as all proceeds from sales will be donated to children’s charity – World Vision – focusing on relief efforts in the Philippines. Artists from all over the world have joined us to help bring this vision to reality. The end result is a compilation encompassing some of the freshest acts in the twilight psytrance genre. 

To start things off we have rising talent Glitch, from South Africa, who introduces us to the surreal ‘Karma Bonus’ – an understanding of how human elements interact, showing how one good turn deserves another. Following him is the French genius Brain Driver's epic, ‘The Box’, a story of twists and turns, a box full of surprises. Bringing us back to reality, Remove instills a sense of calm madness through the ancient elemental technique – ‘Be Water’. To take things deeper, Catarsis – the deadly duo of X-Side and System Sequence from Mexico – take listeners on a ‘Twisted’ trip through an alternate dimension, the lull before the storm that is South African scientist Sonic Assault’s ‘Edge of Sanity’. The talented Hysteria then sets off on a melodic journey, describing the wonders of our universe and how its vastness can still fit into ‘Just One Cap’. Keeping the high energy levels going are beat hackers Distant Touch and Fright Rate who tell the disjointed tale of the ‘Hillbilly Stripper’. Disoriented and still reeling from the pumping endorphins, South African duo Disco Volante (Critical Mass and Risky Business) take over your lost mind, after all the old saying does say ‘Finders Keepers’. The final chapter of our journey by System Sequence - ‘Pag  Asa’ encapsulates all we wish to say through this album, and leaves us with the message of hope, with the music giving us the strength to get back up after the psychedelic maelstrom and rebuild. A special thanks to Orca aka Alon Laifer, the Israeli twilight master – for his impeccable mastering for a majority of this release.

Distant Touch vs. Zabot - Alternate Algorithm

Lysergic Recs partners with Phonix Records to deliver a one of a kind release. Compiled by Ishikawa this release pulls deep from the well of night full-on music where wondrous and deadly delights wait to be found. Enter the realm of the Lysergic Animals.

The release begins with "Just Phasing" from sHiFt (Chris Hoy/South Africa), a legend who delivers a deliciously groovy beast to initiate the journey. Saibot (Arel Bank/ Israel) takes us into the cosmos with his "Black Night Satellite" - a haunting story of how less is more - a lesson learned deep in the void. And here in the void, a spark can be everything you need as is evident with "Dissipate" from mastermind ReFractor (Luan Boes/ South Africa). Deep, moody and waiting to be unleashed on an unexpecting dancefloor.

Once the animals are out - expect them to play. "Vision Seeker 23" from Psyphoria (Don de Valle/Australia) thrills with panned lazers and cheeky breaks but listeners are warned - this beast packs quite a bite. Pushing the limits to manic levels is ‘Exordium’ from Hypometric (Pie Berger/United Kingdom), the sonic embodiment of a raging octopus! A store drenched in acid leads, one of the more frightful delights found in the realm of the Lysergic Animals. Never missing a step, Inside Brain (Luis Cruz/Mexico & Edi Jesus/Portugal) and Mega (Alex Herrera/Mexico) push things to the limit with "Spaceship". Pure sonic power - the combined forces hunt their prey with lethal grace and no hesitation.

Reaching a fevered frenzy, we start to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The epic "Darkness of Times" by sorceress China Rose (Rebecca Broadbent / United Kingdom) pushes the release into our final stages with its ethereal melodies. Here we find SKP (Peter Strachan) helps center listeners with "Existent" - a potent expression of the twilight magic that infuses the sonic realm we explore. And then the light is here - "Freedom" from AxonDop, the new project from atSar (Pedro Trindade/Portugal)  - will seal the portal to the Lysergic Animals. Slow but deliberate, magical but precise, an ode to things that were and to things that will be.

Phonix Records is back with another massive release! This time we are happy to have amigo Mad Noisse (Jaime Cruz Reyes / Mexico) join us to assemble an epic collection of noissy delights - aptly entitled ‘Echoes of Noisse’! 

The first echo comes from legends Alienn (Patrick Ferrera/ Portugal) & Stereopanic (Eric Molena/Mexico) with an epic collaboration ‘Revolution’, a story loaded to the teeth with acid leads, lasers and heavy grooves! The echoes grow louder and darker… Tetrikal (Alan Jair/Mexico) takes us into “Wonderland”. A meticulously crafted roller coaster ride that perfectly sets the tone for things to come. Psycho System (David Iglesias/Spain) brings his signature hyperactive acid leads, and pure energy with “Burning Man”. Mega (Alex Herrera/Mexico) takes the journey deeper with a psychedelic monster that is a “Serial Killer” - equal parts deranged mayhem and face melting psychedelia - Mega goes above and beyond showcasing the latest evolution of his sound. 

And the echoes reach their frenzied peak! Spooky and haunting “Unethical Framework” from newcomer Dagar (Gerardo Diaz/Mexico) is a relentless monster of a tune that will make you MOVE. The release moves from strength to strength - with an epic tale from China Rose (Rebecca Broadbent / United Kingdom). “Labyrinth” is a no holds barred explosion of deep melodies with a super powered bassline. If that wasn’t enough, we are happy to have back with us legend Tryambaka (Tiago Pimentel/Portugal) to take things psychedelic with “Transubstantiate”! Delicious modulated synthesis, hints of melody, and a serious bassline make this a lysergic rush like no other. All culminating in the epic “Slingshot” from Infektion (Bruno Lopes/Portugal) - the classic twilight sound featuring serious grooves and an epic story, a fitting echo to finish the release.

Welcome to 2025 AD. We start the year on an important note - Phonix Records' 50th release! A milestone 15 years in the making, and we are beyond excited to celebrate this occasion with a brand new EP from masters Digital Talk!

The psychedelic french duo - Digital Talk (Julien Fougea and Luc Achintre/France) - have been enthralling dancefloors for over 20 years, reinventing and pushing the envelope with their unique brand of rhythmic groovy psychedelic trance music - time and time again. 

With 'Tales from the Far Side' these cosmonauts revisit the story of a dystopian future, of the 'Far Side'. Originally released in 2005 on the legendary Timecode Records, Digital Talk have distilled, tweaked and maximized the cosmic resonance to construct a special 'Far Side' (Live Version). Dancefloor tested, secured and matured over a year - this monstrous Live Edit is packed with deep space atmospheres, grooves from another dimension, all tied together with glorious acid leads. 

Joining the masters is ReFractor (Luan Boes/South Africa), the beat hacking genius from South Africa. After spending many a moon deconstructing and re-synthesizing the original emissions from the Far Side, ReFractor tinkered and tweaked until he found it again - the Far Side! Tested on dance floors across this planet - his retelling was reconstructed with outrageous amounts of power, and enough raw energy to reach the escape velocity for this reality.

Phonix Records is back with its 5th release of the year! This time label manager Ishikawa puts together our first compilation for 2025. Over a year in the making, this release focuses on expanding the labels' sound palette. After a deep meditation on what twilight psytrance stands for today, the vision of 'Twilight Realities' was born!

The journey starts with Ionkhe's (Ivan Lugo/Mexico) 'Puppet'. Dreamy melodies over a slowly evolving groove help set the tone for the voyage ahead. Legend Moaiact (Luciano Cisternas Salvo/Chile) amps things up with his energetic and acid laced 'Peak to Peak'. Taking an intentional approach is Random (Ross Dubois/USA), with the 'Oddness' - a super psychedelic tale that ebbs and flows, always pushing things closer to the edge. 

From here on - things are elevated to the next level. The ever impressive Billuminati (Czetka Bela/Hungary) presents his funky tale of 'Bro His' - modulated leads and an unrelenting funky bassline are destined to make this a crowd favorite. Not to be outdone is master Eeriegeist (Sebastian Salas/Mexico) with his signature low rumbling bassline that wiggles its way all around the dancefloor in a move he calls the 'Saucer Glide'. And now we hit critical mass. Reality is resonating uncontrollably with the help of Akromode (Andres Garcia/Mexico) - who spins a tale with a playful bassline that is a full frontal assault to the senses, this is 'Magical Vision'. 

All things lead to the final chapter of this saga - the epic three way collaboration between Space Ape (Robin Levin/Sweden), Ionkhe and Absolute 9 (Carlos Ontiveros/Mexico). Pure psychedelic magic and a no non-sense bassline make this a fitting end to this journey through the 'Twilight Realities'.

Phonix Records is especially proud to share the coming of Ionkhe's (Ivan Lugo/Mexico) long overdue EP. Its a story of hope and redemption. A release years in the making, once thought to be lost forever in a hard drive crash with many sonic gems. Then miraculously a year later - long forgotten backups emerged - giving this EP a new lease on life. And so we have come full circle and Ionkhe presents his sublime vision - 'Bad Reputation'.

The story starts with the ever grooving, ever evolving story of the ruthless 'Madame VanderSEXXX'. A cruel mistress, who toys with listeners until she finally has everyone stomping dancefloors. Tried and tested across dancefloors across Canada, Mexico and the USA - the Madame is destined to become a crowd favorite. With an opener like that, it's hard to not push things even further. Some would say it sets an expectation, and so 'Bad Reputation' rises to the challenge. Funky, groovy, and an in your face energy make this an alpha category monster. 

It is at this point, Ionkhe thought long and hard about what kind of vision he was creating. It wasn't truly complete until he had some fellow friends and aliens join in the fun. And who is our first guest star you may ask? Why, none other than the legendary sHiFt (Chris Hoy/South Africa). A joining of forces of epic proportions, which hits all the right tones - its groovy, brooding, and comes from a place of such deranged fun - behold the 'Intergalactic Treasure'! Morphing, shifting and distorting realities - this track is a sci-fi epic that leaves no one standing on the dancefloor - only stompers! 

Not to be outdone is the mystical final track - and second collaboration - 'La Relatividad Del Tiempo' with long time collaborator and amigo Absolute 9 (Carlos Ontiveros/Mexico). Constantly changing, this examination of time through the sonic lens is like a machine gone mad on discovering groove. Processors are humming at maximum efficiency as these two expertly reconstruct reality for listeners. A fitting farewell to the vision of 'Bad Reputation'.

Resonance is the phenomenon whereby a sound played at just the right frequency, the resonant frequency, is amplified and manifested physically in neighboring objects. The greater the resonance, the greater the amplification. Deejays Space Byrd and Ishikawa sought to explore this phenomenon of making objects, particularly people, move through sound waves. Over a year in the making, the two worked together and gathered talents from across the globe - South Africa, Brazil, Portugal, United Kingdom, Mexico and Spain - to create the ‘Spectral Resonance’ experiment. 

Their experiment starts with Contrast's (South Africa), 'Hear Myself Thinking', a slow introspective groover that helps open listeners’ sonic receptors receive resonant frequencies. Once completed, it is time to experience ‘Intensity’ from the combined forces of the legendary Killer Buds (Brazil)and Corrosive System (Brazil). Things take a spooky turn and the transfer of sonic energy reaches a perfect resonance. What follows next is amplification, with the help of Infektion’s (Portugal) epic, ‘Legacy’. It is at this point that listeners start to feel the dancefloor zombie within taking over. 

A moment of clarity is introduced through Systematic Audio’s (UK) ‘300 Years’. A serious monster that helps explore the primal force that is sound. Not to be outdone, Phonix regular Omega Flight (UK) pushes this idea further with his ‘Revenge of the Fallen’ - a mechanical exploration on the power of resonance. 

It is time to level up, an apt point to introduce the newest member of the Phonix Records family - Terrorbyte (South Africa) - and his explosive ‘Legend27’. Sinister vibes laced with haunting melodies, sonic control of dancefloor zombies is complete. Ctrl Z3ta (Mexico) and Dj Meskita (Portugal) next take control to turn dancefloor zombies into unrelenting dancefloor robots with ‘Robocop’. Phonix regulars Psycho System (Spain) further resonate with subjects to infuse them with their hypnotic ‘Dark Essence’. Ctrl Z3ta’s powerful remix of X-Avenger’s (Mexico) ‘Serial Killer’ continues to play mayhem with listeners’ sonic receptors.

As the experiment approaches its end, Space Byrd and Ishikawa begin to ease listeners with a dose of ‘Gravity’, a psychedelic beast from Singularity (South Africa). With the help of master Akros (Mexico), energy levels are carefully fine-tuned with the unrelentingly groovy ‘Kronos’. Leading us to reflect on our findings, Aquedeux (South Africa) helps realize the ‘Conscious Symbiotic Evolution’, the realization that resonance is a journey of minds – those of the resonators, and of the resonated.

In 2010, Paulo Etnarama was inspired to support fresh up and coming psytrance producers acts in twilight psytrance, and thus Phonix Records was born in London. Later that year he found his partner in crime - Ishikawa, a fellow traveler in the cosmos who shared the same vision. Together they worked tirelessly with the aim of providing sonic scientists and wizards the means to be heard by audiences galaxy wide.

Fast-forward 3 years to 2013, Etnarama goes on sabbatical and Ishikawa takes the reigns to manage the label. Since then - Phonix Records has now branched from its home in the UK with representation across USA, Portugal, and South Africa. Over 15 years and over 50 releases, they have released fresh releases featuring all the flavors of the twilight spectrum. Today they proudly support an ever-growing roster of new and established producers from across the globe including France, South Africa, Mexico, Portugal and Canada.
