We had the chance to make the crossing of the North Atlantic Ocean on a cargo ship container (ATLANTIC STAR).
We boarded the Antwerp industrial port in Belgium, sailed the English Channel, and then stopped at Liverpool's industrial port.
Then we crossed the North Atlantic Ocean to reach Halifax, Canada. This trip took us 10 days, 10 days of sounds recording.

Through this trip, we were able to access places that normally are closed to the public : industrial ports, cargo ship container.

We travel across Alaska, from the extrem north to the south coast to capture the spirit of this nordic and wild landscapes : boreal forest,arctic and alpin tundra, glacier, river, lake.
Here soundscapes reflect the extreme weather condition : silent ambiance punctuated by the elements : wind, snow, rain, serving the erosion.
In this wilderness, animals remain discret. We had the chance to capture with our microphones many birds : owls, ducks, seagulls, trumpeter swans, bald eagles, common ravens, migratory birds, and many other species.
And a few other animals : hoary marmots, arctic marmots, squirrels.

PWL05 : City Life : CENTRAL AMERICA

"City Life : Central America" is a collection of sounds captured across 3 country of central america : Mexico, Guatemala and Nicaragua.
This library focus on city atmosphere, especially in street/cover markets, pedestrian areas, parks, and many more.
The sounds captured in Mexico show a more "modern" spanish atmosphere, compared to the Maya's markets of Guatemala, where the people speak a mix of spanish and k'iche'(traditional mayan language used in some parts of Guatemala)
For this 3 country we visit a large amount of cities (x10) to captured the exceptional urban soundscape of central america.
The record duration are around 6:00 min per take. For the cities, we used a discreet setup : Sennheiser AMBEO and an AB stereo setup with x2 Sennheiser MKH 8040.
Each sound recording are located with GPS coordinate and a full soundminer metadata.
The Sennheiser AMBEO is an ambisonic microphone, than can be decode in many differents formats (binaural, 7.1, 5.1, stéréo, mono, etc...) for decode it you can use the Harpex plugin or the free Soundfield/Rodes plugin.

We travel across the huge Canada, from the east coast to the west coast and from the north to the south American's boarder to capture the spirit of this fantastic country and his wild landscapes : 
infinite forest and boreal forest, huge lakes, montain rivers, torrents, ocean, plaine, alpin tundra, mountain range, cave, and also cities environment. 

During 3 month we had captured quiet soundscapes from gigantic boreal forest only populated by birds and squirrels. We have led to the end of the north road, to the edge of the Saint James Bay, where the ice winds of Arctic meets the tundra and the end of the boreal forest.
We went to the discovery of many lakes and rivers that characterize this wild country. We have cross the gigantic plains of Manitoba to join the Rockies mountains and the British Colombia. 

Face to this wilderness, we did not forget the cities and its humans : in Montreal and Ottawa we have captured many atmospheres : market, urban park, street and pedestrian area.

"PWL08 : Ambisonic Overview : USA - WEST COAST AIRPORT & FLIGHT" is a collection of sounds recorded between 2 airports of the westcoast of the USA : Los Angeles, and Oakland. As a bonus we put in the library sounds recorded at the Paris Airport (France).
The library include also sounds recorded during the flights between this 3 airports in four different plane : one Boing 787, one Boing 789 Dreamliner, one Airbus A319, and one Airbus A320.

this sound bank contain many PA System announcement recorded in airports and also during flights (security, boarding, last call, takeoff, informations) 
but also quiet atmosphere of different zone of the airport (tickets place, gate, waiting area) and more crowded ambiances (security check, restaurant, bar, dutyfree shop...)
This sound bank also included complet sequences of take off and landing recorded inside the planes. Quiet and strong walla of passenger inside the plane and roomtone are included.

Wilderness Americas : Amazon Rainforest is a collection of sounds captured in the West part of the Amazon basin (El Oriente) across 3 country of south america : Bolivia, Ecuador and Colombia.

This library focus on the wildlife and wilderness sounds of the Amazon rainforest/jungle. Reaching the Amazon region is not easy and need many resources and time. 
Also the weather conditions are very bad for the people and audio equipment : extrem humidity, rain and heat don't works great with microphones and recorders. 
We have selected audio gear for this purpose : tropicalized microphones : sennheiser MKH 8020 and MKH 30 series in a surround configuration + world known recoreder : Sound devices Mixpre10T. We have taken also a humidity proof microphone basket (Cinela)
This weather proof setup permit us to record even under strong tropical rains. (We have also a special mic cover which reduce the sound of rain drop on the microphone basket)

We have always focus on places, where they protect and respect the "Selva" (Forest), especially place like National Park, Research Station or community places. 
-> We went record in this different place : Madidi National Park (BOLIVIA), Podocarpus National PArk (Ecuador), biological station of "Jatun Sasha" (Ecuador), 
the forest around the Rio Napo (a affluent connect to the amazon river) (Ecuador), the "Reserva de Produccion Faunistica Cuyabeno" (Ecuador) and the region around Mocoa, between Santa Rosa Canyon and the Paway Reserva (Colombia).


We have used "sound trap" technics for long and immersive recording : 
we have hide microphones and protect recorder in a waterproof bag and let it for days and night in the middle of the rainforest (usualy 24 hours non stop recording). 
This system allow us to record the sunrise, dawn chorus, and sunset, time where the animals are more active.

It was quite hard to record, because of the tourist attendance. But after dark some records were good.
