Queen defined an era, but it was their 10th studio album, Hot Space, that showcases the band’s shift into a disco-inspired direction. Opinions on this album are quite divided (including from band members themselves!), but there is an undeniable vibe to the B-side track Cool Cat.

Making an edit to slow rolling groover is tricky. The original track clocks in at 74 bpm with a delicious melody from John Deacon’s slapping bass and his Chic-like riffs. The track’s hallmark sound though is Freddie’s ranging falsetto, which he manages to hold throughout the entire tune.

For our first edit, the maestro @haarplife and I teamed up to put together a dance floor-worthy version that preserves that sizzling baseline but also gives some pop to build anticipation toward the high-flying vocal.
