Five wonderful years have passed for Velvet Vortex and keeping in mind all the people we have crossed paths with, all the lessons we have learned and all the inspiration we have gained – it is time to open a new exciting chapter. Further information will be discovered slowly, but at this moment we are ready to present the Velvet Vortex podcast series. Another branch of VV activity responsible for spreading our passion for deep, ambitious and quality sound in modern electronic music.

We are opening the series with a recording prepared by none other than our long time friend – a skillful and well-respected dj & producer – Luigi Tozzi. His carefully curated selection deftly brings the spirit of Spring, flowing gently like a breeze. Deep, unhurried narrative lets the listener perceive more details in those layered, ethereal sounds. Luigi’s attention to detail and harmony, which he brought to Velvet Vortex events several times already, comes to light once again.

We are excited to share the live recording of Sonic Wave Collective from this years Barcelona based Mostra festival.

Sonic Wave Collective is formed by Mostra's resident artists ABSIS, Cyklos and Spear with a focus on collaboration, inviting different artists to each event with improvisation as a nexus.

At Mostra 24, the guests were Puntalaberinto and Mod.1.

Expect a two hour live performance between machines with five artists pushing the boundaries of collaboration direct from Mostra location at Pati del Castell de Montjuïc.

To celebrate the 100th episode of Communion, we are honored to feature a very special guest: Aleja Sánchez, a Colombian DJ and producer who has left an indelible mark on the Latin American techno scene. Founder of Northallsen Records and collaborator with labels such as Semántica and Affin, her music stands out for its fusion of organic soundscapes, hypnotic, experimental, and acoustic sounds, blended with the essence of techno.  

Based in Barcelona, Aleja Sánchez has dedicated much of her time to exploring new production techniques and delving into the art of sound design, constantly enriching and evolving her musical approach. This set is a reflection of her artistic growth and the mystical essence that defines her music, making it a perfect tribute to this special 100th episode of Communion.

Hydrangea is a French producer creating techno deeply inspired by nature and her surroundings. She began making music in early 2014, drawing her main influences from deep and hypnotic Italian techno.

Since her beginnings, Hydrangea has managed to make her sonic universe resonate far beyond the French borders, performing all around the world. She has played in iconic venues and at renowned events such as Fuse in Brussels alongside Jeff Mills and Ness, La Nature Festival 2024 in Belgium, Outrebleu in Paris, as well as About Blank and Tresor in Berlin.

Her journey has taken her to New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Kyiv, Prague, Budapest, Beijing, Leeds, and even to Australia, with performances in Sydney and Melbourne, to name just a few.

Hydrangea is a French deep techno producer inspired by nature and its surroundings. Her career as an artist began in 2014 when she released her first full-length album Dawn Lights under the Annulled label.
Influenced by the hypnotic Italian techno and ambient electronica, Hydrangea began creating her own tracks with the prospect of sharing her story and perspective through music.
In the same year, she followed up her debut with Escape From Reality, a nine-track self-released album. In addition to her albums, she has also released a variety of EPs such her latest one on Natch Records, Osmosis. Besides her work as a techno producer, she also works as a graphic designer and photographer under the aliases “Horty Shorter/Aegna Hyrd” through which she regulates the artwork for various music releases and graphic art projects. She’s also taking care of the artworks for the podcast channel, Inveins.

Adhémar is a multi-disciplinary artist, establishing his universe through music and visual works. Constantly in search of the luminous quality of sounds, in a world made of shadows and light, his music is closely linked to his plastic work.

This obsession with shadows leads him to think and create spaces, atmospheres that focus on the lightness and poetry of light. The idea of "narrative potential of music", allows us to confront the psychological and philosophical journey with a particular relationship on what is alive and what surrounds us (whether it is the material, immaterial world, the fact that everything is constantly becoming). 

With a particular rigour for transitions, whether in his own production or in his DJset, his universe is built little by little, with the passing of sound transformations and the light and poetic transportation of it all.
