What started out as something we do for fun quickly turned into a channel through which we can share our passion for electronic music. We had no idea that more than 5 years later we would've hosted so many amazing artists, and even more amazing human beings. As regulars at @initiate_concept we figured @pattrn_dj is the right soul for the occasion. He is co-founder and resident of the event series. They invite guests and labels to the @fusebrussels motion room on a regular basis. Sonic experiments derived from syncopated rhythms, intricately crafted ambiences, and patiently evolving textures, Pattrn’s work as a producer bases itself on the creation of space and its perception for the audience. Playing violin since the age of four and later on majoring in both acousmatic music composition and sound engineering, Pattrn’s precision is the fruit of a lifelong dedication to music of all forms, from creation in itself or through his implications in Brussels’ scene.

Beyond the years of technical know-how and self improvement in production, DJing, and live sets,  Brice Deloose aka Pattrn has been an active member of the local scene for quite some time. Cocreator of FTRSND, Brussels By Night Federation, Initiate, as well as having been the artistic director of Fuse club, Pattrn has spent much of his time promoting local artists and collectives to push forward Brussels' underground.

Having shared the decks with the likes of Luke Slater, Luigi Tozzi, Claudio PRC, Kangding Ray, Svreca, and many more, Pattrn uses his sets to impose his world of seamless hypnotic music to lure passionates for always one last dance.

This morning finds us at the end of 2023, the last Sunday of the year. We’ve been so fortunate to have a wealth of wonderful guest mixes to accompany our journey through the seasons and our arrival here is no different. Brice Deloose aka Pattrn is a Brussels based producer, and dj, not to mention label owner as well. As head of Initiate Records, Brice’s discerning ear for quality music extends through many different genres, which aptly describes his mix for us today. Gliding effortlessly through the varied flavors of ambient and downtempo, Brice weaves an introspective tale, perfect for morning walks, or those moments of solitude before the onslaught of the day.

Here’s to a final send off of 2023, and onwards to 2024 for more music, more challenges, and above all, more Sunday mornings…

~ About The Story ~

The sacred presence of Brahman, or the Supreme Divine Reality, is there in God, what is called Ishvara or the cosmic lord. Yet it is also present in the soul or reincarnating entity, what is called the Jiva as our higher Self. And, it is present in the world of nature, Jagat. God, soul and the world are aspects of One Reality, but not in a limited way. Each shares the entirety of the underlying Reality. Each is sacred and holds the same deeper nature of Being, Consciousness and Bliss (Sat-chit-ananda). This vision of unity is the basis for an ecological approach in which we can honour the entire universe as part of our own higher Self. Campfire Stories 40 (Ishvara) by Klara

One year after it's release, Vâyu's debut album on Annulled remains a permanent fixture in many DJ sets and listening sessions, a prime example of a deep, shamanistic journey from a meticulous and relatively new producer. Behind the  journey is France's Maxime Mouttet, who has provided for us a look into his inspirations with this powerful and hypnotic mix which immediately transports us to a more primal and submerged place.

Erik Lydecker, 37 years old. Husband and a father of four angels. Born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden. With an academic background in the natural sciences, philosophy and religion I found myself having all the answers but still deep down I knew that I had no answer at all. At first this troubled me but with the help of mother nature I finally realized that the highest truth lies in the paradox. I vividly came to see how the servant was God and how God was the servant. I am not a musician nor an artist, but I found my self in a reality where reality itself never could be described with words. So I turned to the production music, not for the sake of music, but for trying to transfer the beauty of the paradox to others. As scientist I know that sound has no limits. So what better tool than sound to use when you want to explain the eternal.

Podcast 017 - ELOCHIM

Scav (Sofia, Bulgaria) | ‘The waves of Iskar’

We enter the icy but at the same time warm and calm waters of the Iskar River, ready for a proper sailing. The first 1/4 we plow through the (sound) waves and we realize how vital, flexible and millenary the largest entirely Bulgarian river becomes. Foamy waves (subtle noisy soundscapes), tame waves (robotic and metallic textures), calm waves (lovely quiet low groovy textures), and hopeful waves (subtle melodic arp progressions) spilling down the sides of the boat (ears) make that we can move forward with clarity and self- determination. The following 2/4 the river slightly begins to shake causing dark and restless waves (wonderful dark drone perfectly combined with high frequency penetrating sounds) to give truce again and respite to this marvelous journey. 3/4 completed and the beautifulness of the rocky landscapes (soundscapes) are otherworldly. For thousands of years the (sound) waves of Iskar have made their way into the rock, carving out forms of incredible shape and (sound) design, which have impressed every visitor (listener). 4/4 we made it. And you, will you navigate the (sound) waves or will you get caught at the tide? 

*The closing set was recorded in September near the river at the Iskar Gorge, where Balkan Station open air festival took place.

Yoel Simoni  (Parallel Perception | Tel Aviv)

Yoel has been a fan of electronic music since a young age. With roots of deep material coming from his hometown Istanbul, but now living in Tel Aviv, he has been doing parties with his collective OBSCURE since 2018. The collective has been standing out with its different sound design from the rest of the city. Always open to explore different sounds, Yoel prefers to use the shamanic and experimental side of the techno music with deep and heavy kicks. 
In May 2020 he launched the podcast platform Parallel Perception with his friends. Their goal is to inspire the people of Tel Aviv. This project has the clear vision to showcase journeys of the hypnotic, atmospheric and deep techno sound.
