Miles from the Gunsmoke and ghettoes of Kingston,  Omar Ormsby A.K.A Phort Knox’s rise from poverty to Dancehall fame is the stuff that legends are made of. Born on April 3rd , 1983 on the soils of Newland District in Portmore- St. Catherines, he learned game-hustling and music- from native St. Catherine’s rude boys Baby Wayne, Grindsman, Anthony B , Major Lee and  dancehall big star vybez kartel. 
At the tender age of thirteen years, the boy was forced to be a man when the jungles of Jamaica were traded for the concrete jungle of New York. His family’s migration to the states was plagued with heartache and adversity. His culture, his thick Jamaican accent was a source of humiliation in New York and the public school system.  Knox was teased and ridiculed to the point that he refused to speak in class and failed miserably. New York was a hard knock life,  Knox struggled with culture shock, ridicule and violence on the streets of New York. It was in his struggle that he found solstice in American music: the soulful sounds of Usher, passionate words of Tupac Shakur and the street anthems from the Notorious B.I.G. He learned his way of life from the streets of New York and Hip Hop music.
Knowing New York always favors the hustler, Phort Knox formed DNB Entertainment and dropped scorching club bangers, like “ Gyal We Love Dem”, “relax and mek me hold you”,Sellout all and a  homage to his homeland “ Missing Jamaica.” Needless to say, the singles went viral, spawning a cult following in New York, the Caribbean and throughout Europe. Being quite the commodity, the rookie was answered to perform at JamWorld, a venue only graced by Jamaican and International greats. Magazines and Hip Hop publications have called him, the “Marcus Garvey” for his positive message 'unity is strength,give thanks fi life and the “Jay Z” of dancehall for how he is killing the game.
