A Message For The DJ

Last year Rebirth Records celebrated 10 years with the release of the acclaimed compilation selected and mixed by Larry Heard. We are now happy to present 'Rebirth 10 Remixed': a special collection, available on a limited 2x12” vinyl edition, and three digital parts, including brand new versions of some of the classics of the label in the first ten years.

The second part includes remixes from Palms Trax, Borrowed Identity, Gerry Read, Matteo Gamba and Khotin Berlin-based producer Palms Trax picks one of our favourites 'The Infamous' by Butch & C.Vogt cooking up a very cool version, combining the subtle atmospheric deep vibe and hazy synths with a swinging bass-heavy and a pinch of Acid. Borrowed Identity drops an uplifting, dynamic and solid club mix of 'Conscious Of My Conscience', the classic by Womack & Womack revisited by Freaks.  Gerry Read delivers an incredibly peak time house boogie disco monster version of Full Intention's club hit 'Icon'. The italian producer living in Berlin Matteo Gamba, add his electronic deep touch to System Of Survival’s ‘Iper Island’, while  Vancouver based producer Khotin gives 'Evolving' by Chromatic Filters an introspective slow feel with acid touch.

The cover sleeve is a work by Emil Schult, who has created a painting especially for the Rebirth's Anniversary. Emil is known for his work with electronic music pioneers Kraftwerk. Schult's collaboration with founders Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider saw him actively involved in writing lyrics as well as generating the design for some of the band's most famous covers.

Alongside the rolling drum kit samples, Demi layers cosmic lasers, 70’s clavinet and bucket loads of rolling basslines with this Afro re-edit! Vhyce’s disco chops meet retro 80’s synth arpeggios and huge filtering drops that will bring a slice of retro euphoria to your record bag.

On the flip, ‘Midnight District Line’ from @Kassiansound takes a ride through the city with a rolling filter house workout. No unnecessary bits in this stripped back club weapon. Funky Rhodes and bright NY style 909 loops make this one primed for any time of the night. Jive Talk bring ‘UK Gary’, a reedit teeming with expression from its live jazz drum sampling and sassy female vocals. Developing through the seven minutes with classic house sounds including THAT 90’s Korg organ sound!
