Congratulations. If you’re reading this it means you survived New Years. As reward Terabyte Records have a present for you lucky people in the form of a fresh look, a new signing and something altogether rather special… Liquid Technology vol. 2. The man chosen for the job of TB010? None other than German junglist and liquid sensation…Rowpieces. 

With a string of quality releases on labels like Influenza, Phuzion, Fokuz, Soul Deep, Jazzsticks, Celsius and the mighty Goodlooking Records, he’s proven that he’s got what it takes to stand tall alongside established liquid stalwarts like LTJ Bukem and Terabyte are very proud to present another set of funky rollers for you listening pleasure.

The A-side, titled ‘Dreaming Of You’, sounds exactly like it’s title suggests. With nice chunky organic-sounding drum work, a thoughtfully long intro and a beautiful sample that flows nicely between a booming bassline that’s just large enough to bring the funk and just subtle enough to reinforce the ethereal quality of the overall tune. Layered with some lush jazzy pads, the finished product harks back to the golden age of liquid, with all the production values of a stellar young music maestro.

The other side, ‘Feelin’ Happy’, is altogether a rather more upbeat affair. It has all the elements that make the A-side such a relaxed dreamy piece of music: another gorgeous vocal sample (a bit more restrained this time), some more jazzy pads that reference back to proper rhythm and blues, and the same organic percussion - this time set against a slightly bigger bassline that propels the song along and makes it ideal for jamming to at home, or busting those funky shapes in a club.

Both tracks compliment each other perfectly and prove that Terabyte, despite their darker, more techy heritage, know good liquid when they hear it and are deft hands at any style. Bringing in such a respected figurehead in liquid drum and bass mirrors really adds weight to the label’s snowballing reputation. TB010: A perfect introduction to 2014 and a harbinger of many good things to come.
