PHUNK'DUP is a club promotion/event, it's a music release moniker, and it's also the touring live act title for legendary Irish DJ/Producers Dean Sherry & Barry Dempsey. PHUNK'DUP has released an extensive back catalogue worldwide over the last decade, plus had releases on reknowned compilation labels as Global Underground & Fade (US). Individually the duo have also released numerous recordings on many formats & labels and have DJed & toured internationally for almost 2 decades… Now their back with all new material ;)

Since November 1998 founders Dean Sherry & Barry Dempsey have operated under the PHUNK’DUP banner, both as award-winning* DJs, event promotions & as the multi-acclaimed Soundsystem live act. This live act has toured & repeatedly appeared extensively around Ireland & far beyond playing headline sell-out shows for over the last decade.

This groundbreaking DJ-Live hybrid group act has always been a very forward-looking combination of a live electronic music act alongside a dual-DJ set up between the two performers (dex+f/x). What the duo do is integrate various material, triggered & performed live via outboard equipment including samplers, sequencers, drum machines, outboard effects & keyboards alongside DJ vinyl & CD tracks; incorporating live remixing into the performance. This expandable format has proved very popular & successful and one of Ireland’s first & current only DJ live-hybrid acts.
PHUNK’DUP are now honing new material into a whole new stage performance of original material played live on outboard instruments to a stunning visual effects backdrop.

Very much both visual as well as aural, this multi-DJ live performance is in very high regard.

DJing for almost 20 years in various high-profile venues alongside this on very successful solo careers, Dean & Barry are also founders of Impulsive Music Ireland Ltd, a record company housing over 3 labels, and also VIRTU Recording Studios in Dublin.
The PHUNK’DUP Soundsystem have toured Ireland numerous times in succession playing seminal venues nationwide & far beyond. They’ve also brought the live act to the Far East, Europe & America on sponsored tours and are devoloping their new live show for the international road presently, to tie in with their concept album release plans.

PHUNK’DUP champion their forward thinking sound week in week out at various club events. Their sound is very funk-driven yet takes in many genres to always ensure dancefloor effectiveness & reaction, dropping many variants during marathon 5-hours but always involving familiar classic loops, samples & tunes along the way… 
They feature regular on radio including national stations (2FM, FM104, Spin FM, etc) & the Internet plus host their own monthly PHUNK'DUP Radio Podcast available for free download via iTunes.
PHUNK’DUP have released a number of singles worldwide via their own labels (& licensed to others) over the years plus are presently working on material for a debut album in their studio Virtu in central Dublin.

The PHUNK’DUP SOUNDSYSTEM have now secured a monthly residency in the newly-reopened Kitchen club in Temple Bar plus festival live slots at Life, Hedliners & Electric Picnic plus have tour dates coming up in Europe to promote their new tracks & album project.
