By using a killer vocal hook line on super groovy beats & bass plus the whole range of authentic jazz instruments, Madmen & Poets essentially prove one thing: they are certainly not afraid. For the remix duty they engaged on of the hottest newcomers on the scene. Two lads from Leeds in the UK, Part Affair are another pair of new artists to have been picked up by the Phunkfiction camp. Here they debut on sublabel Digiphunk with a strong release that is sure to see them show up more, and soon. 

Featuring vocals from Jes Fox, Siberia starts off with a pleasantly melodic kick-snare drum pattern intro, before unexpectedly dropping into sparse, deep and offbeat terrain. As the track progresses, the soothing melodic elements are steadily reintroduced to compliment the arctic atmosphere, making this tune an excellent example of how a little extra effort in arrangement can have great effect. 

More melodic and upbeat while still remaining somewhat deep is Virtue Theory, which effectively combines several live sounding samples with the Part Affair palette. While being musical, this is far from liquid fluff, with a driving bassline adding to the slightly busy vibe. As with the A side, the level of detail and attention to arrangement places these guys above many of their peers in the scene. Quality.

Here’s the next release on Phunkfiction’s digital outlet. In good tradition they present another fresh talent. Joe Syntax is an up and coming electronica producer and DJ based in London, UK.  A relative newcomer to the drum and bass scene he has already had support from the likes of London Elektricity, SPY & Fabio just to name a few. His music is varied and experimental taking influence from all walks of life, visual and audible. Expect to hear two absolute forward thinking drum&bass bits which will please the fans of DBridge, Data, Loxy, June Miller or Triad.

With tracks coming out on various labels including Hospitals sister imprint Med School and Syncopix's new venture SyncSaphir this is a defintely one of the new school producers to keep an eye on.

Phunkfiction Digital does it again. Release number 13 features a highly talented combo out of Switzerland called Lost Sequence. Their track “Sublime” sounds like the perfect Phunkfiction fit, putting organic instruments in a new school drum&bass sound design. The flipside “Circle 4” goes a bit deeper and darker and will cause some serious head nodding in front of the speakers. 

Their music is already getting great support from the big DJs and a lot more releases will see the daylight soon. So make sure to keep the sequence….

A new act has been picked by the Phunkfiction A&Rs. Inertia is a producers collective hailing from Madrid Spain. After first releases on labels like Fokuz and Influenza Media, they now present a high quality single on Phunkfiction’s digial outlet.

„Full Scale“ and „Inspector“ are both ranging from lush atmospherics to straight up dancefloor business whilst never losing the experimental Tipp and their top notch quality level. If you like the sounds of people like Spectrasoul, Icicle, Teebee&Calyx, Ulterior Motive, Alix Perez etc you’ll be into this release just as much as the label is.

With a whole new studio setup Inertia is more than ready to turn a lot more heads in 2013. Be prepared to hear a lot more from these guys in the future. That’s just the beginning of a serious new act on the d&b circuit.
