I wrote this as a stream of consciousness one night during the heyday and brouhaha that unfolded during the North Korea fiasco. Basically, this is me being pissed off and angsty and hating everything in the world. Just in crap-rap form. And, surprisingly, I'm very happy with it.

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen [PHXmas Edit]

My latest EDM work. Created on 4/19/2014 using Garageband v10 with Logic Pro 9 sound packs.

The title, "Cariad", (pronounced kahr-EE-yad) is the Welsh word for "love". Kind of goes with the emotion this piece is built around, especially the piano line.

I'm a huge Doctor Who fan, that's why. Deal with it.

This time around, I gave myself a challenge: Write a song in Garageband that features no more than five synthesizer leads/pads/whatever. Use only NATURAL sounding instruments.

I only used three leads. Everything else is natural.

I chose this name because I just watched the episode The Wedding of River Song and I was like WHAAAAAAT so I codenamed the project "Trenzalore" and as I was working on it I felt like it was a journey through different styles of music throughout centuries. Medieval flute, Tribal shaker, Jazz guitar, Latin guitar, Synthesizers, Nordic violin, and drums. Oh, yes, the drums. THE SOUND OF DRUMS.

TARDiM

Just a quick little thing I banged out in about 85 minutes. Continuing with my natural sounds exploration thingy, I decided to base a song around the principle that things in your life can change in an instant. You could go from happy to angry to depressed in a matter of moments. Which I tried to convey here. Emotions change as the time elapses.

This song was created solely for my best friend Sarah's 18th birthday. It's really not much, but I wanted to do something extra special for her. This is what I came up with. Enjoy!

Ribbon (Epitaph)

So this is the first half-ish of my latest undertaking: a full electronic/rock rewrite of Carol of the Bells. Everything you hear in this track was recorded by me, using an M-Audio KeyStudio controller in GarageBand. The main melody was written in part by me, and in part by whoever actually wrote Carol of the Bells in the first place. Don't steal. I'll post the final version when I've got a chance to record and shit.

I haven't touched this thing for a year. I think it's time for a rewrite.

Rob. Echo. Phoenix. All of the aforementioned I go by in this fine world of auditory creationism and awesomeness. I am a college student, which means I'm beyond broke and have dreams that encompass the entirety of the universe. Or so it seems. I just wanna make music for the rest of my life.

I have been a musician for 11 years. In that time span, I have picked up drums, bass guitar, keyboards, vocals, mixing, and synthesizer/MIDI. I have also gotten myself educated in Music Theory I (but not II, thank you AP Theory exam score for messing that up.)

Because of my lacking in expensively mouthwatering recording equipment, many of the works you see on this web page (and probably my second one, since I'm running out of track time on here it seems) will be recorded almost if not entirely in Apple Garageband. I know, it's a terrible travesty, but until I can get my broke ass some decent equipment, this is the best I got.

Oh! I do drum covers too. Search "3choPho3nixx" on Youtube. That's me with the dorky egg-shaped head and marshmallow-esque body behind the drum kit making stupid faces while playing the drums. Or at least attempting to. Some of the general public doesn't seem to appreciate my love for the art.
