Recorded in about 6 overdubs, this was made whilst trying out a 1979 Brüel & Kjær type 5716 clocked tracking filter acting on a single chord from a synth and some white noise whilst controlling the 100Hz wide band-pass frequency from a hand swept clock from a laboratory signal generator.

A live improv trying out a new ScFi patch I programmed up in the SynHCS host editor which runs on a classic Kaypro II CP/M computer connected to a 1982 DK Synergy II+.  The Synergy was an early additive/FM 32 oscillator digital synthesizer with remarkably complex looping envelope generators and real-time modulation for the time.  It is a direct relative of the Crumar GDS and the Bell Labs Synthesizer known as Alles Machine.

The SFX at the end of the recording is a bizarre patch I came up with too in SynHCS.

I made this edit to play at my record release party earlier this year for my first release of 2023, "Body & Soul" which was remixed by the legend himself, Steve "Silk" Hurley.  (rose to 11 on the House Music chart on Traxsource). This flip is a Deep House remake of a very sexy song by the one and only Rihanna. I hope you enjoy!

Neroli reaches release number 50 during its 20th anniversary and celebrates with a special project, an album of songs by some of the label artists and friends. The title reference goes back to 20 years ago when label’s honcho Volcov decided to give the label the name of Brian Eno’s Neroli album, an hour long ambient opus inspired by the oil derived by the flowers of the Seville orange. So after 20 years and 50 releases the label goes full circle and offers an album of delicate and heartwarming melodies and atmospheric songs. The talent of original UK dons Kirk Degiorgio, Dego and Ian o’Brien is enrolled once again to guarantee sophistication and depth. Patrice Scott and Fred P, who had recently released eps on Neroli, are joined here by fellow spacecadet Aybee…all delivering warm futuristic pieces! K15 and Linkwood debut on the label, opening and closing the album with class. And there is even a lost composition by Volcov himself with Detroit’s Gerald Mitchell and Pirahnahead as part of some 2010 sessions that might resurface soon…THE FIRST CIRCLE is complete!
