I don't know whether I'll actually finish this or not

Oh boy, this song was a long time coming.  I actually based the main melody off a song idea I had sometime last year, then expanded it a lot. I tried to make this a blend of "pretty" and "creepy", and evoke the image of a spinning dancer on a music box. Did it work?

Anyway, the UTAU here is Hitokoe Heiri, whose voice I absolutely ADORE. I'm actually collaborating with her voicer for the video, so this won't be uploaded to YT right away.

What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets!

Chipspeech is absolutely glorious. I feel like far too many people in this fandom expect all synths to be like Vocaloid and UTAU, but I've found myself enamored by this program, which resurrects some of the very first singing synthesizers.

Being some of the first voice synths ever made, naturally, they're not very high quality - they're not supposed to be. They have a wonderful robotic quality and a TON of character to their voices, which really appeals to me. You can manipulate the voice parameters in a vast number of ways, which I also love.

Here I used Dandy 704 - an updated version of the literal first singing computer, ever. He's one of 7 voices that come when you get the program - go check it out! It's definitely worth getting.

I've missed making music and was stuck in a huge rut for the last year, but inspiration hits when it hits, and I'm back to playing around with my weird little synthesizers.

The thumbnail is actress Nobu Kanaoka in the film Phantom of Regular Size, which was one of the main inspirations for this song, and will make many appearances in the video I'm working on for it.

When I started making Vocaloid songs, I was a tween who was incredibly influenced by symphonic metal music. I didn't have the knowledge, practice, or resources back then to make a song of my own that really embraced the genre. Instead, I just took compositional elements of it and incorporated them into a more pop style. Today, I decided to revisit bb Piano's dream and try to make a true metal song. I'm quite happy with the result. :D
