This one is different. Like travelling to the core of something essential. Something long gone, forgotten, left behind but still alive. Waiting to be found. But it is hard to find. You have to spend time. You have to be brave. Willing to take risks. Face the truth.

Omega Centauri is a globular cluster in the constellation of Centaurus that was first identified as a non-stellar object by Edmond Halley in 1677. Located at a distance of 17,090 light-years, it is the largest known globular cluster in the Milky Way at a diameter of roughly 150 light-years. It is estimated to contain approximately 10 million stars, with a total mass of 4 million solar masses, making it the most massive known globular cluster in the Milky Way.

Omega Centauri is very different from most other galactic globular clusters to the extent that it is thought to have originated as the core remnant of a disrupted dwarf galaxy.

A study from July 10, 2024 has examined seven fast-moving stars from the center of Omega Centauri and found that their speeds were consistent with an intermediate-mass black hole of at least 8,200 solar masses.

A score reading into a sequence for the original instrument combo, produced ca 2000's by H.Fesefeldt (1942-2019, a German nuclear physics researcher & music software developer) was used as source material, after reviewing it quite freely on its its articulations, tempos, dynamics,and other interpretational details by VV.
A pair of Petrof Mistral 284 modeled grands, revoiced & reconfigured by VV, were used on its playback-recording after these modifications.

I recorded this at about 4 AM chicago time.  Its spring ahead daylight savings time. We lose an hour and hopefully gain some sun.

There is nothing more glorious than being gifted with a random day of sunshine and warm temperatures near the end of a harsh, grey winter.  It's a lovely little taste of summer and a much-needed reminder that the season will change, and heavy coats will soon be a distant memory. We will no doubt have a few more cold, snowy days as winter closes, but in the meantime, we will enjoy our glimpse of a little summer.

A Little Summer

Hello… thanks for dropping by. This song is a loud, electric-slide song. It has overdriven slide, some homemade (learning how to:no drum kit) percussion, a vocal harmony and gravely vocals. I am happy I am able to do this at all, at 68 years of age… especially singing, which greatly wanes with age. (I really just started to sing within the last decade or so.) Traveling On… may be seen as a metaphor, or not, it doesn’t really matter. It might signify personal change or a movement toward and/or away from something. There is a hint of recognition, insofar as the unwavering essence of who we are… There is a suggestion of working toward peace. Again, this could be seen as metaphorical, in a sense of personal introspection. What do we espouse, condone and accept in this life for ourselves and society? Do you want to ‘Travel On’? Welcome to my SoundCloud page.  It serves as a jar of sorts, to catch the musical ideas flying around in my head!  My hope is that you find something to listen to that offers encouragement and refreshes your soul.

All music is original with a few exceptions (such as new arrangements of old Christmas songs, etc.).  All music has been written and performed with absolutely no AI-assistance.  I primarily perform and record on the Yamaha MODX8, with an occasional recording on my older Yamaha Clavinova.
