This 3-song suite starts in a museum of musical instruments in Malaga, travels to a beach in Mallorca on to the hills of the Forlivese and ends in my home studio via our apartment building's cellar.

Those locations provide the framework in which the music exists, and in certain cases where the music was recorded. To me they invoke memories of places and by extension specific moments in time.

Anemoia is "nostalgia for a time you’ve never known", so this EP is an invitation to the listener to get to know these moments of time, to step into my nostalgia.

The ninth episode of my monthly show on Ma3azef Radio, which originally aired in April, 2021.

This show focused on music made entirely in Milan's Milan’s Studio di Fonologia Musicale, which in its less than 30 years of existence,  was a hub of sonic experimentation that rivalled its contemporaries in Paris and Cologne. This show aimed to showcase some of the music that came out of these experiments under the guidance of luminaries and pioneers Luciano Berio, Bruno Moderna and sound engineer Marino Zuccheri.

Track off my upcoming album "Plastic Peel Aliens".

"Plastic Peel Aliens" has been a work in progress over the past three years, sparked by a highly unlikely source of inspiration: the act of peeling plastic off plexiglass separators installed between office cubicles and desks. This seemingly ordinary task unveiled a rich soundscape, brimming with unexpected harmonics, moments of aggression, and even occasional alien-like qualities. This sound became the sole source upon which the entire album was built.

Armed with my phone's voice recorder, I volunteered to set up these separators across all four floors of my former workplace. These initial recordings became the foundation of an extensive library of samples. Each sample was meticulously processed in various ways, allowing me to craft a diverse palette of sounds that served as the vocabulary for composing the album's tracks.

"Plastic Peel Aliens" comprises eight tracks, including a bonus one, that delve into dark, heavy, and claustrophobic sonic territories, marking a notable departure from my previous releases as Pie Are Squared. However, they maintain the core principle of harnessing a limited set of sound sources to push creative boundaries to the fullest.

My second full length, "Lucciole", is the outcome of my "74 in 74" project (the link is in the header), where I covered all 74 strategies in Dennis DeSantis' "Making Music". It is also the culmination of everything that makes Pie Are Squared what at is. 

Elements of every single EP or LP that I've released thus far can be heard on this along with new facets of my music that hadn't been touched upon before. It's equal parts glitch, ambient, noise, drone and rock and yet is probably my most accessible album to date.

This started off as an idea for a remix of Robin Schulz's "Headlights" which then evolved into a mash up with Coldplay's "Clocks" and finally into more of a remix of Headlights with samples from Clocks. In short, I have no idea whether this is a remix or a mash up, either way, I think it works.

Pie Are Squared...now with vocals! Well kinda, this is my first ever song with a discernable vocal melody, running it all through a couple of vocoders and Soundtoys' brilliant Little Alter Boy. It's shoegaze/dream pop/kinda nice I think and I am planning on doing more stuff in this vein to record properly (hopefully with live drums) & release them in 2017.

A new track to include in my EP based around using the Make Noise​ 0-Coast as the sole sound source for everything. Sequenced by the KORG​ SQ-1 and running it through Ableton​ Live's resonator and reverb, it's soundscapey, ambient and with a whole lot of feedback generated by hitting the resonator exactly at the right spot via the 0-Coast's Overtone circuit.
