This week we welcome a very good friend of mine to the show. Super talented German producer and all round nice guy.

Martin Merkel

Bio:

Martin Merkel is a somewhat mysterious figure within the European Techno scene. The maverick German producer has often stepped away from the egotistical glare of publicity, preferring his music to do the talking. He quietly creates his own self-described brand of “Soulful Techno”, steeped in complex emotions and with an attention to musical detail that comes from many years of dedication to his chosen craft.

Originally inspired as an artist by the experimental attitude of Italo Disco and the embryonic Techno scene, via parties at the likes if Dorian Grey and Omen (Frankfurt) and Tresor (Berlin), Martin Merkel’s nascent career saw him develop an early love of analogue synthesisers – and saw him fill his studio with a desirable collection of Moog, Roland and Waldorf machinery. In recent years he has moved towards a more compact, travel-friendly digital studio set-up, but his love of synthesisers remains a defining characteristic of his uniquely distinctive musical output today. A master of sonic excellence and musicality, his creations have previously often crept out on the likes of Cinematique, Bonzai, Secondary Tones, JOOF, Monkey Business, Neverending and his own Shelter 54 imprint. Now, under the auspicious guidance of Platipus Records the most exciting new chapter of his career is about to begin.

George was born in the city of Xanthi, Greece but currently lives in Athens.
From his early years he showed interest in music, which came natural considering the cultural growth and love of the arts that surrounds his birthplace.
He draws inspiration by everyday scenes and his tracks reveal a man with an artistic ear and view of life. He started as a DJ from the early age 14 and became quite successful, starting from Xanthi and moving downwards the country.
He has worked with some well-known producers-DJ’s such as: Behrouz, Sabb and more.
His producing career began 6 (six) years ago with the EP “In my dream” on Lee Burridge’s label “Get weird” that became a hit and soon enough had his own vinyl record. There were more from that came from, as it tends to happen with creative minds. Some of his hit releases come from known labels such as Do Not Sit / Tale & Tone / SOUKSONIC / The Soundgarden / Get Weird / Keyfound

His tracks received support by globally renounced DJ’s and producers. Some of them are John Digweed,Hernan Cattaneo,Nick Warren,Darin Epsilon,Lee Burridge,Lost Desert,Audiofly,DAVI,Armen Miran,Newman,Death On The Balcony,Kevin Di Serna and more.

BIO:

Paul Hazendonk and his @manual-music company are an essential part of the underground electronic music landscape. The kind and gentle Dutchman has been active as a label boss, deejay, and producer for nearly two decades, during which he performed in excess of 35 countries and has worked for labels such as Diynamic, Sudbeat, Einmusika, Kittball, Hope Recordings and Sony / Epic amongst countless others.

His independent record company Manual Music serves as a home for various record labels, several of which are headed by Paul himself. Deeply rooted in the electronic music scene, his company also takes care of the digital distribution-, label management-, promo- and publishing needs for numerous labels and artists.

In the earlier stages of his career, Paul honed and perfected his craft as a deejay through recidencies at various clubs, including the legendary Las Palmas in Rotterdam. He got asked to play his first international gigs aged only 19 years old, and hasn’t looked back ever since, considering the fact that he’s performed anywhere from North America to Asia and from Australia to through out the whole European continent.

Although over the years he’s perfected his own distinctive sound, it’s not easy to pin Paul down and stick any one particular genre tag on him. He's an allround music aficionado first and foremost, who embraces the idea of a classic deejay, having total musical- and artistical freedom. His sound is characterized by warm basslines and melodies, but always with an infectious drive, often blending elements of both house- and techno music, also not shying away from the occasional sidestep into breakbeats or electronica.
 
Paul Hazendonk plays his DJ sets in the same way he’s running his record company; based on gut feel rather than being boxed in by fixed genres and trends. One thing is for certain: the vibe this true musical connaisseur radiates through his productions and deejay sets is always overflowing with true passion and love!

Hey there LAMP Fam. We are extremely excited today to share with you new music and a guest mix from an artist we are very fond of here at LAMP, Tim Engelhardt. Over the years he  has put together an absolutely incredible portfolio of music and established himself as one of the top producers of Melodic House/ Techno/ Progressive/ whatever you want to call it, dance music. As part of a new collective and label called Scenarios, Tim has a new EP that was released April 1st, 2022 called ‘Here To Stay’.  It is the first instalment of the series and is a collaboration from three of the five members of the collective, Engelhardt, Sean Doron and Maga. The Scenarios project is made up of five artists and the label will be releasing music and putting together events almost exclusively within this group which includes the aforementioned artists. Scenarios is rounded out with two more outstanding producers, Yulia Niko and Emanuel Satie.  The first EP consists of two exceptional tracks ‘Here To Stay’ along with ‘You & I, Paradise’ feat DUDDHA.  You can hear both of them in the exclusive guest mix provided by Engelhardt down below and you can pick them up from Beatport or add them to your Spotify lists by hitting the links a little further down. We poured ourselves into preparing this set. Playing midnight to 1:30am before the legendary Lee Burridge, we wanted to craft a journey that would pull the dance floor inward, putting them in touch with their emotions while putting them in motion. We don't often prepare a set tracklist, but we did for this set to keep the energy ebbing and flowing just right while weaving across different tonalities. We hope you enjoy this melodic dreamscape through the introspective, melancholy, groovy, and uplifting.
