Tequila 2000 (HardTrance Acid Mix)

Berlin based DJ/producer Alignment returns to Etruria Beat this May to deliver ‘Interference’, accompanied by two commanding and powerful remixes from Luca Agnelli and Madrid’s Regal.
 
With releases to date on the likes of Involve Records, Voxnox and Etruria Beat, with his last release on the Italian label coming in the form of his ‘Gravity’ EP in 2016, Berlin’s Alignment ranks amongst the shortlist of names to keep an eye on when it comes to emerging producers within the techno sphere. 
For his return to Etruria, the Italian steps up to reveal two high-octane cuts whilst Etruria founder Luca Agnelli and Involve boss turn in impressive interpretations of the lead track. 
Opening the EP, title cut ‘Interference’ combines 90’s acid sounds with trance-tinged synths to reveal a production primed for the dancefloor, before handing over control to Luca Agnelli who introduces hypnotic and suspenseful builds and breaks to proceedings, whilst switching up the track’s lead lines to create a warping journey. 
Next up, Regal who raises the energy even further and reinforces the original’s acid patterns with his own trademark sonics before ‘Turn Off’ concludes the package as hypnotic synth melodies merge alongside powerful driving rhythms throughout.

BPitch welcomes Italian acid duo Boston 168 back to the fold as the label’s 2020 campaign continues. The pair produced the ‘909 Therapy’ EP and the back in 2019 after their successful ‚Drops In Heaven’ debut on BPitch, so it’s a pleasure to have them return with ‘Vax Of Love’, a three-track continuation of their experiments with industrial sounds and the timeless appeal of the beloved Roland TR-303 and its squelchy secretions. What we have here is the product of one of Italy’s ‘Motor Cities’, the ghosts of abandoned factories present in every beat, bassline and acid-tinged motif...

First up is ‘Kiss My Accent’, a dense playful cut with a potent analogue hoover effect keeping the energy levels high. Pounding beats propel the track forward, while the analogue riff warps and twists, modulating into various guises throughout. It’s dramatic and tense, moving the listener physically and mentally.

This is followed by ‘Mononucleacid’, which has a morose feeling from the start. The drums stomp down sending shockwaves through the ground as the rhythm grabs you and refuses to let go. We’re taken back with a nineties influence, though the production levels are crisp and contemporary. As the cut progresses Boston 168 cultivate a stirring atmosphere designed to ignite the dance floor and cause an uproar.

Finally, ‘Vax Of Love’ takes us into breakbeat territory as the duo put their own spin on a familiar drum pattern. It’s strange and unique, with rousing organ-esque effects working in tandem with cosmic squelch effects and a wistful spoken word sample. The beats switch up, taking on a 4x4 rhythm at one point, Boston 168 showcasing their creative flair with this one. The intensity increases after a short breakdown, leading us to the interstellar ending...

Dystopian vibes abound on this excursion into madness from Pierre Berge-Cia. Steady industrial flavoured grooves pepper the two openers, with looping melodies and a sense of pervading darkness always floating nearby. Rather neatly, the further tracks form a kind of "flip-side", all driving energy and techno-flavoured, with Conrad Van Orton's remix taking us all the way to straight-up dance floor action.

EXHALE’s much anticipated first release continues the legacy of @amelielens' EXHALE event series with a fifteen original track compilation featuring old and new friends from each avenue of the underground. With a shared love of rave culture, the label is a platform for the forward-thinking while simultaneously paying homage to foundations of techno. With this in mind, Amelie gathers familiar faces and upcoming artists to deliver the future sounds of techno.

Spanning to each dark corner of the technosphere, the compilation fosters a range of sound that exhibits each artist’s production taste and background. Amelie & EXHALE events mainstay AIROD open proceedings with the ascending ‘Adrenaline’, featuring acid lines and hypnotic vocals, with Spanish techno veteran Regal driving on with authoritative speed and neurotic alarms in ‘Spreading the cult’. Following his debut on LENSKE, Amelie welcomes AhI Iver to bring an acid flavour to this compilation along with French talent Felicie, who builds tension early on with raucous track ‘The Devil Himself’. Obscure Shape & SHDW follow with ‘Brennende Erde’, inducing a state of trance with whirring atmospherics. 

Next up is notable Berlin based producer Klangkuenstler with ‘Engelsblut’, an oscillation of stabbing keys, sinister drones and unrelenting hi-hats before transitioning into ‘Take Two’ from REMY-X, whom Amelie discovered after his stand-out EP on Coincidence Records last year. DJ/Producer at the forefront of French techno Antigone proceeds with ‘U Tell Me’, along with Brecc who incorporates industrial elements and thundering bass with track ‘Vox’, continuing with Antwerp producer Lukas Firtzer’s ‘Excessus’, packed with shifting percussions and tenacious melodies. 

Purveyor of modular techno MRD combines layered atmospherics and euphoric pads in ‘Reach my hand’, followed by Mehen (aka Hadone) who maintains pace with his rendering ‘Broken Whisper’, with a disorentiating and melody driven expedition from Francois X next to switch up momentum. Promising upcoming Dutch producer Grace Dahl ensues with the merciless ‘Vermilion Empire’, while production virtuoso DYEN nods to EXHALE’s roots in rave culture with ‘Fantasy’, a medley of spiked vocals and ethereal synths that maintain the energy until the final kick.
