Homeys Records new release, “Something new”, features the first
collaboration between Marina P and the upcoming french producer KSD. Once the original track was completed, the vocals were given to three other producers close to the italian singer for remixing. Stand High Patrol’s version offers a jazzy take on the track with unexpected footwork influences. TWM, for his very first release, presents a steppers version made for the soundsystem. Homeys brings a roots reggae touch with a flute part that leads the theme.
These producers’ three different remixes perfectly represent the musical universe of Marina P. The 12 inch will be available as a strictly limited edition release

Cette nouvelle release du label Homeys Records est née de la première collaboration entre Marina P et le producteur poitevin KSD. Une fois le morceau original achevé, le vocal de "Something New" a été livré à l’inspiration de trois autres producteurs proches de la chanteuse italienne qui ont tous décidé de réinterpréter le morceau à leur manière. Stand High Patrol nous propose une version jazzy du track portée par une rythmique aux influences footwork inattendues. TWM, dont c'est la toute première sortie, présente une version stepper taillée pour les soundsystem. Homeys, quant à lui, mise sur des accents très roots avec une flute traversière qui mène le thème. Les producteurs mobilisés sur le projet ont su proposer une palette de sons éclectiques qui représentent parfaitement l’univers musical de Marina P. L’EP sera dispo le 31 mars sur Homeys Records. Attention édition limitée !!

Here comes another tuff collaboration with RDH Hi-Fi from Nantes, France, we and a few other sounds have been playing throughout the last two years on heavy rotation as exclusive dubplate - always causing nuff ‘furore’ in the dance. For the ones who have been patiently waiting and asking about it: it’s finally ready for the people…

A riddim called 'Hardway' was given to the UK veteran Tippa Irie from London for some lyrical nice up. He approached it with a conscious message and with his original chatting style and wrote and voiced a powerful tune on the riddim - speaking out against all wickedness and injustice by the police - a topic truly important to us. So get ready to skank in unity, teach them about power to the people and 'put up yur hand, if yu don't like police…'

The flipside holds another ruff digital remix inna hardcore fashion. Responsible is none other than the french ‘dub invader’ Natural High Dubs - well-known from his longtime involvement in the Lyon dub scene and projects like High Tone and their sound system force Dub Invaders.

Musical ammunition against police oppression.

Both sides were transferred to 1/2inch Tape for extra analogue warmth, mastered with care and pressed on high quality 180g vinyl by Star Delta / Delta Disc, UK - of course also digikally available. The artwork is again by none other than ohoroho from Slovenia.

‘I Need A Map’ is the upcoming release from Osaka’s DUB KAZMAN and ROUGH SIGNAL RECORDS. As always, the riddim has Kazman’s signature sound, raw and heavy and this time with the mighty PUPAJIM on vocal. The A Side starts nice and easy in a one drop digital roots style then dropping into driving steppas until the fnish. The B Side dub is in Kazman’s signature sound, a hard hitting delay rolling into the riddim with rims soaked in spring reverb. As always, Kazman works some great melodies on strings with driving bass and drum foundations and Pupajim’s distinct vocal style gives his usual uplifting sound. We expect this tune will be massive in 2019.

Upholding the unique sound of authentic Jamaican Dub, with the sonic precision of his heavy hitting productions, Alborosie’s “Alborosie Meets The Roots Radics “Dub For The Radicals”, will be released Friday January 18. The project was engineered, produced and mixed by Alborosie using vintage analog gear, dub sirens, reel to reel tape, and live instrumentation from Alborosie himself and reggae icons the ‘Roots Radics’. This release marks the first album to come out of VP Records 40th anniversary, which will be celebrated throughout the year. 

This project follows his 2018 release, “Unbreakable: Alborosie Meets The Wailers United”, which was released on June 29th with members of Bob Marley’s former backing band The Wailers. Both bodies of work exemplify Alborosie’s continued work to preserve reggae music by working with the originators and helping to connect reggae music with fans around the world. On “Dub For The Radicals”, some instantly familiar Roots Radics melodic riffs show up throughout the album such as parts from the hit song “Night Nurse” float through the hard-hitting drums on ‘Midnight Dub Raves.’ 

To launch this album, Alborosie will be headlining a special Strictly the Best concert live from Montego Bay on January 30th. He then will embark on a tour beginning in Montego B February in Bogota, Colombia and wrapping up at Summer Jam in Cologne, Germany. Continuing to showcase his master dub abilities, he also recently launched his “Dub Mechanic” YouTube series which showcases Alborosie creating Dub mixes live in his Kingston, Jamaica recording studio. So far he has done dub mixes of “Live Conscious”, “Table Has Turned”, “One Chord Dub” and “Contradiction” featuring Chronixx. 

“The beauty of a great dub album lies in the listener seeking audible reference points, and on Dub For The Radicals, the game of audio hide-and-seek is a thrilling ride,’ said journalist David Katz. “Ultimately, Dub For The Radicals continues Alborosie’s explorations into dub’s deeper space, reaching a new level on his dub journey even as he helps dub to reclaim stellar status in Jamaica,” he continued.
