A creative process is just that: a creative process. You can put in as little or as much as you like, but the end goal should always be genuine fun or fulfillment, whether in the process or the result.

The real problem, in my eyes, isn’t AI. It’s what our current environment demands. You can spend six months making a beautiful hand-drawn animation, or you can spend six minutes on Reddit, copy-paste it into a video, or record a reaction to someone else’s work. If your goal as a video creator is simply to reach financial sustainability (something every human needs), the choice becomes obvious: less effort, more profit. We’ve already accepted this reality in most parts of life and society.

If people only made art for the sake of art—for the joy and satisfaction of creating something new—then we wouldn’t be drowning in endless remakes. Old ideas, old games, old films, old music, old fashion, re-skinned again and again. Profit is calculated coldly. We chase formulas, apply them repeatedly, and call it progress. Metrics work for repetition, not for true creativity. There are no neat measurements for new ideas—it’s too vague, too unpredictable.

We say non-human systems steal from artists, but that’s exactly how our own minds work. We process, remix, reshape. We just use slower, meat-based processors and hide it behind self-flattering stories. We like to think we’re unique, the pinnacle species. But drop a human into a void with no input, no experience, and they would produce nothing. Thought only arises from what came before. Our species’ greatest gift is building on accumulated knowledge—millions  upon millions before us, small discoveries, fragments passed down. Cave paintings, first notes of music, simple tools, story telling, jokes, agriculture, everything—all anonymous blocks we stand on today.

Yet we’ve built a thankless world. Most people grind at jobs they hate, trapped in endless competition, financial predators circling one another. Success is often determined not by intelligence or compassion but by selfishness. Those willing to maximize their own gain while minimizing others’ rise faster. Equilibrium is fragile, and too often broken.

If your goal is to push limits and make something new, profitability is unlikely 80–90% of the time, maybe worse. You’ll face failures and disappointments. But progress is essential for survival: better food sources, better housing, better diplomacy, better sustainability. We need to learn how not to destroy the ecosystems that sustain us, rather than burning them down for short-term gain.

Go ahead—shout that AI is the problem, that people’s work is being taken without fair return. But how many nurses, caregivers, sewage workers, garbage collectors, and countless others go unthanked every day? How much would you demand to clean the waste of the elderly, or break fatbergs in a sewer? These tasks are indispensable, yet ignored.

How many scientific discoveries were stripped from their inventors, only for savvy businessmen to profit? Genius overlooked, progress lost, because the unknown is unprofitable.

Don’t pretend humanity itself isn’t the root of its own problems.
