Popular Swedish song from 1961 gets an extra boost and the possibility to mix it.


Att remixa något var helt nytt, men en dröm för mig. Jag har diverse riktigt usla försök undanstoppade, och ofta så testades ny teknik och nya tekniska idéer för hur man kunde skapa en remix, med min för tiden ganska enkla utrustning. Det fanns ju inga seriösa tankar om att få ut eller sprida dessa publikt, så några färdiga produkter var det inte tal om. Men för att illustrera hur det kunde låta, så kommer här en liten remix. Michael Jönsson (MJ) och jag umgicks en del och ibland gjorde vi några grejer ihop. Här kommer en variant på Anita Lindbloms klassiker “Sånt Är Livet”. En enkel bakgrund skapades med lite bastrumma, ett extra piano och lite publik. Hela låten beatmixas sedan live från en 1200-grammofon. Låten hämtades från Remixed Records, som tidigare gjort en remix på den. Som sagt, test av teknik och prylar om hur det kanske kunde gå till.

Pierre J is playing the “Solid Bass”-sound on his DX-100 and the vocal-phrase in the end is nicked from a Paris album.


Här kommer ytterligare en remix, eller snarare mash-up, gjord tillsammans med MJ. Det är “Jungle Brothers - I'll House You” som remixas om, fast alla ljud och trummor är hämtade från andra låtar, undantaget basgången som jag lirar själv på min DX-100. “Solid Bass” hette ljudet som var mycket populärt och som kunde höras i många produktioner på många bra skivor. Att hålla så mycket som hela acapellan från “I’ll House You” i nått minne fanns inte på kartan, därför beatmixar jag acapellan från vinyl i en tagning. Vissa saker springer tiden förbi väldigt fort, men denna låter väl ändå rätt fet än idag?

Pierre J is playing the baseline from his Roland TB-303 that got sampled into his Ensoniq sampler.

Ännu en gammal remix, som snarare är en mash-up, då alla delar är hämtade från låtarna nedan. Allt är skapat i min Ensoinq-sampler. Totalt hade den 1Mb i minne (alltså mindre utrymme än ett enda foto tar i utrymme på en iPhone) och klarade då 11,5 sekunder i mono, på bästa upplösning 44,1 kHz.

Min var utbyggd och klarade det dubbla. Detta var det absolut maximala i samplingstid som denna sampler kunde hålla i minnet. Då är några delar inspelade med sämre bitrate och frekvens, vilket gav några sekunder extra som minnet kunde användas till. Sedan var minnet helt slut alltså. Det gällde att hushålla med resurserna för att få ihop det.

Svårt att ens ta in idag hur begränsat det faktiskt var. Här går samplern på max.
