Composed for the documentary I Veneti Antichi – Cavalcando il Mito, this score follows a dramatic episode from the 3rd century BC, when the Spartan pirate Cleonimo led a raid into the Venetian lands and was met outside Patavium (modern Padua) by General Sekene and his army.

I wanted the music to feel as if it belonged to the battlefield itself. The writing draws on classic blockbuster harmonies for power and scale, but I reshaped it with modern sound design and mixing to create something personal and current.

The arc of the score mirrors the battle: the ominous calm before the clash, the advance of the Spartan phalanx, the chaotic melee, and the intimate tragedy of Veltikos’ death. It ends not with celebration, but with solemnity, echoing sacrifice and resilience rather than triumph.

Throughout the process I worked closely with the director, making room for sound effects, syncing with the cut, and refining details so that the music would always serve the story. For me, it was about translating ancient history into a cinematic language that feels both authentic and alive today.

The soundtrack to FREEFALL, directed by Francesco M. La Barbera and Daniele Murgia.
The music follows Alberto, a young man caught between addiction, guilt, and escape. The score moves between stasis and collapse — compressed electronic pulses, strained strings at the edge of breaking, silences that breathe as part of the rhythm. Each cue builds the sensation of a suspended body — a man falling without moving.

The composition blends emotional minimalism and psychological tension: fragmented melodies, restrained dissonances, textures bending like the protagonist’s mind.
It doesn’t accompany the image — it dissects it.
A claustrophobic descent into loss of control, where sound becomes the voice of the void.
