'A legendary figure within the underground dance fraternity, Pole Folder has been a regular contributor to the Proton Music catalogues over a 15-year period that began in 2006. Now celebrating the release of a brand-new original track in the shape of "Mara", Proton Music is proud to highlight the Belgian icon's forthcoming work with a remix from two of modern progressive house's leading figures.

Able to point to a plethora of combined credits with 2016's "Superposition", 2017's "Osmosis" and "2018's "Interscope" making a trio of outstanding original contributions on Proton Music, GMJ and Matter are one of the most recognised underground dance pairings of the last 5 years. Alongside remixes of Andre Sobota, Juan Deminicis and Nōpi, the Australian duo now return to the label to showcase their dazzling talents with a sublime teaser remix for the full "Mara" EP package to follow.

Showcasing their "Intro Mix", a gloriously atmospheric opening hints at elements from Pole Folder's original mix while textured pads and gently rippling melodies emerge amidst a 'Last Post' opening refrain. Building elegantly through metronomic kick and reversed melodic sequences, the track bears all the hallmarks of producers at the very pinnacle of their respective games as a stunning array of production material envelops the listener with cascading waves of gently pulsating sound. Developing into a dynamic rhythmic offering in the second half, melodic elements, heavy beat and ticking percussion converge to create a sumptuous whole that is the perfect precursor to the full release.'

Juicebox Music's 62nd release sees Mike Rish's 3-track EP "The Quest", originally released in late 2021, getting a fresh breath of life with a set of remixes. The Melbourne (Australia) based artist made his debut on our imprint with his deep, yet powerful remix of Simos Tagias' "Black Swan and swiftly followed it up with a magnificient release which earned high praises & support. Mike Rish furthered his sonic mark with releases on GMJ & Matter's 'meanwhile' as well as James Beetham's 'Last Night Music'. To celebrate "The Quest" EP, we called upon Kabi, EMPHI, Haen & MONé to rework all three tracks from the EP - "The Quest", "Enter" & "Tuumla".

First up is Buenos Aires (Argentina) based artist - Lucas Khabie aka Kabi, who makes his return to the imprint after his chart-topping "Lost In Roses" EP with K Loveski. His dreamy and club-effective style caught the attention of the progressive community, namely through his body of work on Nick Warren's 'The Soundgarden', Guy Mantzur's 'Plattenbank' & Mango's 'Mango Alley', to name a few. Releasing quality over quantity, his attention to detail is evident. For his latest offering, Kabi injects his signature style into Mike Rish's "The Quest", turning it into a deep yet driving interpretation whilst retaining the magical melodic moments.

Initially making his appearance on Juicebox Music via our inaugural edition of 'Fables' with his track "Parabol", EMPHI returns to the label for his first remix duty. Better known to his friends & family as Johan Härdin, the Swedish-based artist captivated the audience ever since he launched the EMPHI project in 2020, with one of his first signings being on Yotto's 'Odd One Out'. He's continued to cement his place in the industry with productions on Armen Miran's 'Hoomidaas' & Jelly For The Babies 'One of A Kind', while receiving amazing support from the likes of Cristoph, Ida Engberg, Henry Saiz, Dmitry Molosh & more. Hot off the press, EMPHI retouches Mike Rish's "Enter" to give it more after-hours approach with a fine lesson in energy-restraint that crescendos perfectly at the drop.

The final remix of the pack comes from a collaboration between two Indian artists making their debut on Juicebox Music, meet Haen (aka Sachin Menon) and MONé (aka Sooraj Sivadas). Haen kickstarted his discography with special 4-track electronica "Moved" EP, alongside fellow producer mate - Scarr., on the US powerhouse imprint - 'Monstercat Silk'. While Sachin continues to keep the association strong with the Silk Music family, his electronica-meets-breaks-meets-progressive style also found its place on labels like 'Sommersville', 'Movement Limited' & 'Mango Alley', where he's also co-founded Mango Alley's sister imprint - 'Maldesoule'. MONé, although being newer to the production space, was Juicebox Music's resident DJ & label manager in the beginning stages of the label, making him an integral part of the family. Taking his time to learn the craft of producing, Sooraj launched himself as MONé to express his love of underground electronic music, releasing tracks that range from the depths of deep breaks to raw techno. Teaming up to remix Mike Rish's "Tuumla", Haen & MONé explore a completely new, aggressive & creative direction whilst still paying homage to the original.

A new label to enter the underground house milieu, Pillbox has a set of 24-carat gold credentials from which to cast its net over the global club scene. Owned and curated by Proton progenitor, Sam Packer, the label's first release sees a track from German and Lebanese talents. Remixes come from Australia and Germany.

An artist with a rich electronic music history, Chris Zippel has been immersed in the world of house since the age of 15. Splitting his time between Berlin and Ibiza, the German artist has taken centre stage with work alongside the Pet Shop Boys, Robbie Williams, Jose Padilla and Steve Lawler. With music signed to Ubersee Music, Allisum Records and GMJ & Matter's Meanwhile Horizons, Zippel continues to grow in stature. A rising star, renowned for her status as a leading Qanun player, Ghenwa Nemnom has combined her love of the traditional Middle Eastern instrument with an ability to use its unique sound in the world of dance music and the organic house sound found on such leading imprints as Café De Anatolia, Alt Orient and Melody of the Soul. Now joining forces for the first time, "To Follow" is an extraordinary track that drifts enticingly with gently rolling beat and deep 16th note sub bassline. In tandem, the beautifully plucked sound of Nemnom's Quanun reveals itself in a virtuoso performance. A whispering vocal phrase emerges at the mid-point before ambient effects and subtly placed arpeggio combine in the second half to spine-tingling and immaculately crafted effect.

Gavin Griffin needs no introduction to those familiar with the progressive house sound of the past 5 years. A leading light in the underground fraternity with his performance behind the decks and near 500 production credits for the like of Anjunadeep, Balance Music and Proton Music, the Australian artist continues to push boundaries, defining the modern progressive sound. Reworking "To Follow", the GMJ remix is dripping in trademark silky smooth melodies and rolling rhythmic underpinning. Building imperceptibly, a vocal sample from Zippel and Nemnom's original creates a melodic peg from which to hang a glorious analogue synth motif. The cadenced phrase shimmers across the stereo spectrum as layer of pads and counterpoint motifs create an uplifting sonic experience. Using the fundamental harmonic themes from "To Follow", the track builds post-breakdown into a glorious sonic collage that showcases GMJ's technique and talent to the full.

A seasoned producer with almost a decade's experience, Karlsruhe born, Benjamin Landhäuser, has music in his blood. Surrounded by a family of artists and a leading light in the downtempo fraternity, his Landhouse production soubriquet has seen a double century of credits find their way onto a plethora of esteemed imprints including Amselcom, WAYU Records and Leveldva. Sprinkling his distinctive production touch over "To Follow", a delicate shaker-driven percussion lilts over the emotive bassline progression from the original, while the vocal entwines effortlessly with Landhouse's beautifully imagined synth lines and wandering arpeggios. Rising and falling with ease, subtle touches of Ghenwa Nemnom's Quanun are sampled and driven through effects to create a unique aural atmosphere that evolves into the second half.

As Chris Zippel & Ghenwa Nemnom begin their Pillbox journey, "To Follow" is led by forwarding thinking remixes from GMJ and Landhouse.

Andrea Cassino, with such celebrated releases as “Divine”, “Losing Part of Me” and “Asante”, has been at the forefront of the progressive house scene for almost 15 years. Remixes for Kamilo Sanclemente & Dabeat, Rudy, Michael A and GMJ have also been notable highlights in the Italian-born producer’s star-studded portfolio, as he now returns to remix Savvas. Characterised by an effortless bouncing bass groove and immaculately syncopated percussion, the Andrea Cassino interpretation of “Wonder” retains some of the core melodic themes while turning it into a rolling, club-friendly gem. Sweeping string passages and the haunting vocal prevalent in the original make their presence heard, particularly at the atmospheric and evocative breakdown before the mesmerising groove takes hold once more.

A welcome returning figure to the Meanwhile Roster, Mike Rish is no stranger to success. With numerous cross-genre hits under multiple aliases, his own name sees him reach rarefied heights in the Progressive House genre with work signed to Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, Guy J’s Lost & Found and Praveen Achary’s Juicebox Music.

December 2021 saw a Meanwhile debut with the sublime 3-track “Beyond” EP, while April 2023 witnessed a standout reworking of Jamie Stevens’ “Storm Front”. Returning for a second outing, his latest triple tracker opens with the funky rhythmic backdrop of “GT”. Using an intricate percussive arrangement to provide a club-friendly foundation, a swathe of stereo-panned textures and synth effects meander across the opening movements, accompanied by delay-infused vocal cuts. A smooth arpeggio adds a touch of traditional progressive drive at the breakdown and beyond, while a further synth motif blossoms in the second half to sit alongside the rasping and explosive bassline.

Continuing the effects-laden narrative, “Shoreditch Funk” quickly makes its mark with a woodblock infused percussive top-line. Stereo-panned pads and saw-tooth synths pulsate in dizzying fashion while a grooved bassline adds dancefloor ‘funk’. A cascading arp makes its presence felt, pitching in freeform oscillator glory at the break, before continuing unabated in detuned fashion throughout the second half. The result is a vibrant sonic collage that bristles with verve and innovation.

The final track witnesses another meticulously conceived rhythmic arrangement throughout “Reka”, with a subtle bass sequence providing dancefloor sensibilities alongside a heavy 4/4 beat. An acetylene-torch lead mesmerises with its glissando phrasing while a glassy motif combines with gently pulsing pads that swim enticingly in smooth juxtaposition. Continuing themes redolent in previous outings, a beautifully imagined synth phrase syncopates in exquisitely cadenced rhythm alongside percussive counterparts. “Reka” then evolves into a delicately conceived melodic jewel in the latter stages.

“GT / Shoreditch Funk / Reka” continues to find Mike Rish very much at the leading edge of modern and pioneering Progressive House.

Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint continues a strong spring season by showcasing new interpretations of Eric Lune's ‘Embers'. Originally released in October of 2019, it's smooth yet euphoric moods saw play from Hernan Cattaneo, while also being one of the Aussie artist's best selling tracks of the year. Now looking to revive this musical gem for the warm months ahead, Sound Avenue invites Death On The Balcony and GMJ to re-imagine the track.

Sitting at the heart of the organic house underground are Death On The Balcony. Arriving on the scene more than a decade ago, the UK duo have compiled an impressive resume, highlighted by releases on All Day I Dream, Akbal Music, Do Not Sit On The Furniture and Kindisch. In what has proven to be a fruitful creative partnership the duo continue to earn the praise of their contemporaries and tastemakers alike. Now following a remix for Pablo Bolivar's Seven Villas imprint, Death On The Balcony debut on Sound Avenue with a gorgeous take on ‘Embers'. Coming in smooth and percussion, it's a rich, soulful and incredibly charming nine minute journey. Redolent tones, ghostly vocal fragments and exotic drums build an inviting narrative, as strummy hooks and melodic flurries steal the air at opportune moments. Perfectly timed, the main break brings a greater sense of calm, a heartfelt interlude of sorts, before a stripped down section provides an energy bridge into a percussive drop and charismatic finale.

Completing the release and providing the second and final interpretation of ‘Embers' is GMJ who makes his label debut. Based in Melbourne, Australia GMJ aka Gavin Martin has been a primary figure in the progressive house scene for over a decade. His passion for deep and emotive electronic music has seen him land releases on the industry's most esteemed imprints. From Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music to Cid Inc's Replug Records and UK behemoth Anjunadeep, it's GMJ's storytelling style that continues to surprise and inspire even the genre's most discerning fans. Now following an EP for his newly formed ‘Meanwhile' imprint, GMJ debuts on Sound Avenue with a stunning rendition of ‘Embers'. With a perfect blend of creativity and emotion, the Aussie artist deconstructs the main elements into a gorgeous effervescent theme. Symphonic overlays and buzzing sonics marry perfectly with the euphoric motifs, while a robust foundation translate those impassioned qualities to the dance floor. An exceptional remix from GMJ, capping off a well rounded remix edition for Eric Lune's ‘Embers'.

'Presenting their debut collaborations, Dmitry Molosh and Nopi land on Cid Inc’s Replug Records with ‘Consciousness Switch’.  Label artist and progressive music star Dmitry Molosh has found a comfortable home on the Finnish imprint. After rounding out 2019 with the chart topping ‘Cascade’, the Belarus based artist returned to Replug this year alongside fellow countryman Michael A for their ‘Integral’ EP. Dmitry’s 2020 has also been highlighted by his latest project for Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music entitled ‘Elison’. Having first appeared in March of 2019, Nopi has enjoyed a meteoric rise through the organic house underground. In just eighteen months the Ukrainian artist has found a home on Akbal Music, Kindisch, Sound Avenue and When We Dip XYZ. His fresh approach to deep and dreamy melodies has propelled him to one of the genre’s top up and coming artists. Now making a welcome debut on Replug, he teams up with label veteran Dmitry Molosh for a two-track showcase entitled ‘Consciousness Switch’. 

Getting underway with the title selection, Dmitry and Nopi combine their extensive forces for a cosmic slice of progressive house. From its full, muscular groove comes driving percussion, robust rhythms and ethereal effects. Evolving with power and class, placid atmospheres provide a colourful backdrop for a landscape of striking electronics. A majestic break sits at the heart of the journey, expertly crafted and spanning nearly two minutes in length, it’s effervescent rumble builds, as rising effects marry heartfelt harmonics for a commanding drop and enormous finale. 

Continuing the progressive minded ethos of the EP is the equally brilliant ‘Ungovernable’. Warm and mystical from the outset, the piece pulsates with cross cultural vocals blanketing rippling bass tones and free form effects. Effervescent stabs add character and grit as the vocal narrative evolves leading into the main break. Twisted bass modulation adds a wave of tension across the centrepiece, flowing through an unpredictable storyboard, before getting washed away in a rush of sonic decay and spirited vocals. Flawlessly tailored for an astute dance floor, it rounds out two stunning creations from Dmitry and Nopi, who have made their debut collaborative project a most memorable one.'
