Brenden Durant (PIllowHands) is a Producer/DJ based out of the interior of beautiful British Columbia, Canada. Born on the coast and moved into the gorgeous Okanagan Valley at the young age of 4 where he was raised in the luxury of being surrounded by music. More well known as the producer side of the Breaks/DnB act “GroundsKore”, PillowHands has aspirations of pursuing a unique sound on the solo front of releasing and playing Dubstep and 140 tempo breaks.

In his upbringing Brenden had a multitude of musical influences surrounding him. His father was a main source of that, and helped in giving him the musical exposure needed for him to develop a strong passion for music. From weekly band practices he would watch and play along to the band with from a very young age, up to his early teen years when his father (being a producer in the radio industry for years) introduced him to the basics of digital production he always had an outlet for music at home growing up. It didn’t stop there either, Brenden excelled in the music arts program through school winning awards along the way and was even awarded with the Bruce McAllister memorial scholarship in grade 12. Growing up during the time of the revolution of pirated music also gave PillowHands an enormous range of external influences which is a list far too long to be listed herein. 

A DJ with the ElectroFunk DJ Collective, and more recently becoming known for producing for the Breaks/DnB act “GroundsKore”, Pillowhands produced their debut album which ended up topping out at #4 on the Beatport top 100 breaks releases charts, and also has a couple more EP’s on the way to release and a full length studio album in production under that name. He’s also planning on releasing a Dubstep EP on Bassbong Records sometime this year. Feeling that dubstep has become a sort of ‘lost relic’ in the festival scene PillowHands want’s to help revive a once thriving genre that has seemed to have been forgotten, and he finally has his first solo show lined up to showcase his new sound at Awesomer Productions’ “kickin up dirt 9” out in kamloops at the end of may to take his first steps in doing just that. 

Don’t be deceived if his Facebook page and soundcloud profile seem a little dormant, he’s been fairly occupied with GroudnsKore over the last year and a half. However there is big plans in place for this guy and he’s planning on making a big impression in the scene very soon.
