A staple of Naarm/Melbourne’s electronic music scene, DAWS is a favourite for bringing local and international sounds together as a DJ, and a producer of refreshing and intoxicating dance music.

DAWS is acclaimed for outstanding sets that highlight her finest talents, signalling an intimacy with the dancefloor along with a rich knowledge for dance music. With a devotion for classic and modern house music in her warmer sets during the daytime, she also drives her own distinctive sound at night through weaving in percussive gems, club edits, and high-energy techno. 

In Australia, she’s played the most prolific queer and underground electronic music parties including Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras, Beyond the Valley, Gaytimes, and Pitch Music and Arts. DAWS has had incredible sets as alongside international icons such as Octo Octa, Bambounou, Or:La, Carista, DJ Boring, and CC Disco. 2022 saw her introduction to Europe, gathering support from fans in clubs such as Corsica, Koko and Night Tales in London, as well as making new fans as an addition to ADE festival in Amsterdam. 


As a producer, DAWS has gained international attention for her original releases with support on NTS, Rinse FM, BBC Radio 1, Dublab, along with clips of her tracks being played across some of the hottest festival sets of the summer. Her debut EP was released in both physical and digital forms on UK-based house music mainstay Hot Haus Records in May 2023. The four track EP exudes euphoric feeling and energy to weave across dancefloors regardless of night or day, and is a glimpse of her impending impact and influence as a producer.

She also solidified her talent as a producer and DJ when she experimented with new sounds to produce her side project ADHD edits; a number of vibrant club ready edits and remixes of her favourite pop songs which all raised money for local charities. Since the release of her originals and edits, DAWS has continued to cultivate her sound and grow as an artist.

With his oldest roots stretching back to classical piano and guitar, he started producing his own records in 2011. However, it wasn’t until 2013 that his true vocation began to emerge, fueled by the world of electronic music. His early involvement with Hydrive Shows opened doors to gigs and fostered a sense of community - the driving force behind his engagement in the midwest DJ scene. From house parties to popular clubs and venues in the Twin Cities, it has always been more about sharing the love for music rather than an ego driven venture. 

His sets are a seamless blend of house, techno, UKG, and leftfield beats, characterized by their rhythmic grooves and diverse tempos. A significant stint at Dubzoo in London, UK, in the mid-2010s, cemented his love for the underground electronic music scene and shaped his professional ethos.

A decade into his craft, Andrew is a studio owner at Origin 414 and contributes to the evolving landscape of the Midwest dance music scene through events like Enigma and Decadance. Co-founded with Mike Johnson & Louis Quicksell, he opened Eunoia Studios, a digital agency dedicated to empowering independent artists through digital products and immersive physical experiences.

For the 2nd instalment of the mix series which focuses on those “sunday energy vibes” with UKG - we have a takeover from one of our favourite labels. Their Bandcamp description describes their direction perfectly - “Creativity without order. A platform for music with no signature sound - for the lovers and the listeners.” Their output since they started just shows their versatility of the label itself with a wide range of sounds from jazz to house to breakbeat. You name it.

It’s the first time i’ve contributed to a UKG channel so it was a pleasure putting together some favourites, some unreleased bits from friends, and a few shameless bangers from Mike Millrain just for good measure. Here’s my sunday dim sum recipe, had a lot of fun recording it and it came together in the first take so that’s always nice. Strictly steppers and blastoise. much love, ell x

SUNDAY STEPPER SOCIETY Selection 002 - BANOFFEE PIES (dj autumn)

A DJ/Producer based in Tokyo. In 2023, with the release of their debut EP "The Great Escape," they launched the dance music label Hekdb. Since then, they have continued to release music, primarily featuring artists from Asia. The first volume of the compilation series “Hekdb Product,” titled “Hekdb Product 001,” was featured in Mixmag Asia, garnering significant attention. Following the release, they embarked on tours in South Korea and Hong.
