This is the most recent version of the insanity that is"A Fatal Exception."  This live track, featuring Stacy on the Korg Kaossilator Pro, Monty on the Roland Handsonic, and Daniel on dan moi, or Vietnamese mouth harp (and vocalizations), is perhaps the biggest curve-ball we throw at our audience in what is already quite an eclectic set.  The only song from our live set that uses a preprogrammed beat loop, it sounds much more fully electronic than any of our other songs.  Some have said it sounds like a video game soundtrack!  (note: the lead synth sound in this one is called, coincidentally, "didgeridoo!")

Pink Mist - The Fall (Brand New Studio Track - 2014!!)

Here is a new improvisational track recorded on Mach 9th, 2014.  This track features some of the new toys we've been playing with recently, including our new darbuka, played by Stacy, and Monty's new guitar synth, providing a cello-like accompaniment.  As usual, this song was recorded by a single room microphone, and processed minimally on Audacity.  Other instruments include Kaossilator beats, provided by Stacy, and didgeridoo by Daniel.

Pink Mist - The Unnamed (Improv)

We recorded this track the same day we went into the studio to record "The Fall" for the "Didgeridoo Through the In-Didj-In-Us Tribe" compilation cd.  We nailed it in one take!  This is one of the first songs we ever wrote (or that wrote itself for us), but we haven't shared a "final" version of it until now.

I sat down and came up with this one just a few days after the InDidjInUs fundraising house concert in March of this year.  So glad the recorder was running to catch it.  Now to learn it well enough to perform... and perhaps to improve it a little along the way.

Solo Didgeridoo 3/14 (Improv)

Here is another spontaneous musical creation from our most recent improv album, "36 Days."   A fan favorite, as well as a favorite of the band, it features Daniel on piano & Stacy on Korg Koassilator Pro, laying down a nice psychedelic groove for Monty to work his guitar magic over, and the results are amazing!  No doubt, this song was inspired at least partially  Eddie Hazel's guitar soloing on Funkadelic's classic song, "Maggot Brain." On April 13th, we decided to try out the acoustic thing, and had some pretty good results!  This is the second jam from that day.  Daniel plays a C# red alder didgeridoo made by Seth McCaslin, Monty plays his Godin acoustic guitar, and Stacy plays the darbuka, all unplugged, just hanging out on our back patio!

Here's another of our favorites from our improv album, "36 Days."  Monty on guitar/ guitar synth, Daniel on the piano, and Stacy on the beats.  Together we weave a pretty wicked groove, that, again, just came out of nowhere.  So glad the recorder was running!

The didgeridoo takes the lead in this spontaneous composition, taken from our home-produced improv album, "36 Days."  Guitar synth & Kaossilator create an atmospheric track for the didge train to ride away on...  As usual, this track was recorded on a single in-room microphone/ recorder during one of our practice sessions.

The last track on "36 Days," our homemade improv album, and the last track that we will share from this album, this one features Stacy on the piano, Daniel on the KaossilatorPro, and Monty on guitar.  It has been edited down from a jam that lasted over 20 minutes.  Since the Kaossilator can't store loops in 3/4 time, we had to create a 3/4, 4/4, 3/4, 3/4, 3/4 structure to match up with Stacy's 3/4 time, but that still had 16 beats, which ended up evolving into this bizarre sounding jam.

The sound of my new didgeridoo, Ze Monsta, made by Chad Butler!!  Backed up by some electronic sounds.  Basically, I created a few simple loops on the Korg Kaossilator Pro, found a setting for adding improv melody bits, and started recording.  This is what came out!  This track is now featured in Wess Lewis' YouTube series, "Transcendence." (Episode 33)  Check it out!

Pink Mist was formed in 2009 by longtime friends and family Monty Smith, Stacy Sellers, and Daniel Miller. There was no particular style that we were shooting for, we just played with our toys, and let the sound develop on its own. Most of our songs are developed from improv jams that we record during our practice sessions.
