The mysterious Bollywood-singer-turned-Hollywood-DJ Otm Shank (pronounced "Autumn Shank") returns with his follow up - 'Bounce EP'.

Beginning a lifelong study of the Indian hand drum tabla with his guru, the great Debasish Chaudhuri, Otm explores taking the instrument to uncharted electronic places over two unique tracks.

'Bounce', made almost entirely from pitch-shifting tabla hits, Otm teases between ordering the listener to "bounce" in sub bass overload, where’s the beat? rhythmic madness, and then "relax" in trippy, inter-dimensional breakdowns. 'Teentaal' takes a more melodic approach in Raag Ahir Bhairav, contrasting psychedelic tabla and santoor warping with minimal bass drops.

On remix duties, Roska jumps back into his Afro-influenced alias Bakongo and ZDS (Toolroom, Cr2, Defected) delivers a high energy tech house mix. Plus, Pinkturban’s official tabla player (OTP), Aanand Dika, performs a live tabla version of Teentaal to wind down gently after all that bouncing.

Following up his debut EP release on Pinkturban, the sitar-wielding wizard Evan Hatfield returns to the world-music blending electronic label with his next offering, Confused Ravi EP.

“Confused Ravi” is a luscious mix of house, techno, and Indian Classical, featuring a seductive sitar performance by Evan himself escorted by deep groovy rhythms and synthesizer syncopations.

The track is inspired by the moment world-renowned sitar player Ravi Shankar finds out that George Harrison of The Beatles is coming to India to study sitar with him. Considering how, at that time, the West generally paid little attention to Eastern culture, it came as a great surprise to Shankar.

Hitting it hard on the B-side is “Time”, a gritty dancefloor track featuring Evan’s sitar and intricate oud skills. Both tracks marry a balance of other-worldly soundscapes and tasteful composition that further define this unique new artist.

It has been over a decade since the global electronica scene sampled its first Desert Dwellers remix. Synthesized from a menagerie of old-world acoustics infused with the pulsating beat of the electronic underground, it was these early re-visions of @desertdwellers' genre-melding music that would come to serve as a foundation for the duo's evolving relationship with the alchemical art of remixing, as exhibited by over 100 remixes of their style-defining tracks since the project first took shape in the late 1990s.

"Breath Re-Imagined Vol. 2" carries on in this evolving tradition as producers Amani Friend and Treavor Moontribe hand the building blocks of their 2019 album, "Breath," over to eleven musical adepts from the realms of downtempo house and electronica for a scintillating new installment to their global music tale. Spiced with the ambrosial flavors of world beat and folkloric house, "Breath Re-Imagined Vol. 2" brings a dreamy and evocative edge to Breath's ethereal landscapes, blending in heavier percussion and deep, technical grooves to craft a dance floor elixir that guides us further into the essence of Desert Dwellers' shapeshifting musical visions.
