Flip The Lid is a label prone to movement. Originally started in London as a radio show, before then making its way to Aotearoa/New Zealand, and now finally settling in Boorloo/Perth, the label has seen a series of moves and influences that have stuck with it to this day. 'Rolly Bump Vol 2', its second compilation, is a merging of all of those geographic influences, with contributions from Ireland, Japan, across Europe and Australia.

'Twerp', the work of Boorloo-based producer Aphid, is a nod to deep, dark and hypnotic dancefloors. The producer, who cites the likes of Unai Trotti, Smagghe, Ciel and XDB as influences, has shared a track versatile enough for the club or big outdoor systems. "Layers of broken percussion, tweaked-out acid & a healthy dose of 40hz keeps this one skipping along," the label shared.

'Rolly Bump Vol 2' releases via Flip The Lid's Bandcamp this Friday, October 24.

I am very happy to present a new mix to you after three quarters of a year in which I had to struggle with the consequences of Covid and exhaustion syndrome.
This time, the set is a little more relaxed. 
I've combed through my digital and physical library and selected some varied, deep, groovy, and atmospheric electro, house, and techno tracks.

I hope you enjoy the mix as always.

"I wanted to bring a bouncy, lush cosmic energy that encapsulates the cerebral aspects of sound design I love and the body high of movement & groove that carries my favorite  dancefloors. I’ve included some of my favorite FLINTA producers, forthcoming works, and tracks from the Delusional catalog, all spanning an array of genres, yet unified in their otherworldly nature. 
I love movement whether it's a proper warehouse or just dancing at home, so I think this mix would be an incredible pre-club listen."

We are stoked to host this exquisite mix from @maudevos, founder of Delusional Records, a label amplifying underrepresented voices in electronica, with a whopping 95% of it showcasing FLINTA, LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and API artists.

Up next for Tapes #168 is Lithuanian-born and London-based DJ and sound therapist, Maybe Laura. She transcends genre and works with the many facets of how sound affects us and is deeply connected to the local electronic music scene and known for her genuine, warm presence behind the decks. 



Drawing from a wealth of influences, she carefully curates atmospheres that inspire, uplift, and at times challenge the dancefloor. Her unique style, intuitive selections, and immersive approach position her as a tastemaker who can't be pigeonholed, weaving fluidly between house, techno, experimental textures, and beyond.
