String figures are a storytelling activity and an age old form of spiritual play. There are hundreds of them, from all over the world, often representing things from nature or day to day objects or activities. The long days of the Covid-19 pandemic UK lockdown and a bewildered mind led me to learning a number of them, picking at random for a welcome distraction. As the months went by and the lockdown continued, I began writing simple melodies to represent the simple, innocent and playful movements of two hands, a piece of string and the passing of time. There was so much uncertainty within the monotonous days and I think this also comes out in the pieces. 

My brilliant friends Mainly Two, a violin duo, recorded this collection of miniatures in the depths of the Black Forest in Germany 48°49'42.4"N 8°23’09.6”E. It had to be outside, everything had to be outside during that time, so you’ll also hear the soundscape of the forest, distant traffic and airplanes that surrounded them.

We’re pleased to announce a new collaborative album in conjunction with Bigo & Twigetti. ‘The Exquisite Corpse’ is based on the surrealist game of the same name. Taking Leah Kardos 'Little Phase' as it's starting point, the piece will be reworked by a series of composers and producers to create an album of tracks which continually evolve as each new version is passed from one artist to another, adding to and transforming material from the original piece. We'll be releasing a new track from the album every 2-3 weeks with the first track due towards the end of October and the full album available in April 2017 so keep an eye on our social media for updates.

The Biber Project is a live performance in which the interpretation and recreation of the Baroque repertoire merge with sonic experimentation and interaction.

The musical studio is a broad-spectrum cognitive pathway that through interpretations, new readings, audio manipulations, original and recomposed tracks, investigates the expressive canons of the seventeenth century.
The idea was born when the soundtrack was written for the Ginevra Napoleoni's installation named "Pieghe". Following the performance requirements, I revisited, on that occasion, the Rosary Sonatas by Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber.
The assumptions were two well-defined axioms, set together: the baroque proportion of the forms seen in its inter-penetration between the parts and the material singularity of the fragments that assume, in a macroscopic view, their autonomous architectural identity.
The Biber Project seeks its DNA in this geometric reconstruction that follows the numeric proportions of the Golden Section. A sort of great instrumental suite, a unique act that flows into a continuous stream of experimentation and formal purism in an articulate sound vision half-way between the recital and the live musical direction.
